Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). ...if a liberal democrat woman ran for high office and had a daughter who\'d gotten pregnant at 17, what would the republican conservatives say about it?

Would they respect her and not bring her family and children into it or would they claim having a 17 year old daughter and not being able to keep her from getting knocked up meant she wasn\'t fit to hold high office?

I wonder....(well, actually I don\'t wonder coz I know the republican conservatives would attack her and her daughter constantly as being too liberal for high office and unfit to hold power or be one heartbeat from the presidency.)

It realy pissed me off to see John \"A noun, a verb and I went to vietnam and was a POW for 51/2 years\" McCain more or less demand the press not say anything about Palin\'s pregnant daughter when we know that if the parties were reversed McCain and his attack orgs would be screaming about it constantly.

I don\'t like hypocrites, and McCain comes off as a big one here. Looks like I\'ll be voting for Obama...

Prove it.  Heck, give us some anecdotal evidence.

Unsupported accusations are the lowliest sort of political pandering.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

I just heard a thing that I found disturbing (and I suspect this cuts across party lines).  I was a story on CBC.  Someone on CNN was asking McCain's spokesperson to state on action Palin had taken as the head of the Alaska National Guard.  The guy couldn't answer and the interviewer kept at him, asking him to answer the question.  Sounded like tough, straight-ahead journalism to me.  But according to the news story, McCain's camp got all mad about it (I can't remember the exact language they used).

I find it disturbing that kind of strategy, this getting all resentful when you are just asked tough questions.

She went to visited wounded soldiers in Landstuhl, something Obama couldn't find time for in his busy schedule because he couldn't bring his press entourage along.

Sure, like the "straight-ahead journalism" that hounds Obama's people to answer exactly what he did as a community organizer or his law firm job, right?

I'm still waiting for the balanced articles full of Chicago and Illinois voters unhappy with Obama.  If they can find people who don't like Sarah Palin in Alaska despite an 80% popularity rating, I'm sure they can find someone in Illinois or Chicago to interview who doesn't like Obama, right?

So what do you think of this video?  How often do we see questions like that or maybe this is the reason why they stopped asking?

So I'm just imagining the Obama camp flipping out over the questions he was asked during the Pennsylvania debate and Obama flipping out to a reporter over questioning his abortion record.  No, no bias here.

This problem isn't so much the flying monkeys on the DailyKos and Democratic Underground because the Republicans do have their equivalent.  The problem is that the mainstream press started taking the most absurd accusations without any evidence and investigated them and has been releasing poorly sourced and confirmed stories pushed by her enemies that have been turning out to be false.  I thought that the whole value of the mainstream press was that they valued careful reporting and accuracy.

By the way, do you see the Republicans or the mainstream media harping about this?  Of course not.  And it really has no bearing on Biden's qualifications as vice president.  (Note that this ran on page A9 of the Washington Post.)

Liberal Democrat here. I think everyone should leave this issue alone- as does Obama, btw.
This girl is going to have it hard enough. FFS, people need to show a little bit of fucking decency regardless of how they're going to fucking vote.

Should McCain's camp get "mad" about the left saying Palin supports a "Nazi sympathizer"? How about Mark Bubriski and his statement, "Palin was a supporter of Pat Buchanan, a right-winger or as many Jews call him: a Nazi sympathizer."

I was speaking about the media as a whole, John Morrow.  Wasn't really looking for a partisan barrage.  I like the John Morrow who answered my question about Fudge a lot better (for which I owe you a credit).

Yes, that's a fair and tough question.  And the senator answered, saying "I can't."  When you keep asking the same question, then you are moving into polemics instead of journalism.  But at first, definitely a fair journalistic move and definitely fair to keep pressing him on it until he answers.  In the interview I heard with the McCain representative, he wouldn't even address the question.  But I'm sure both sides do that as well.

Amen, man.  I can't watch CNN coverage during the day any more.  Jack Cafferty seems fucking obsessed with urging her to step down from the nomination, and it seems to just get more and more personal and sordid and stretching for a scandal or outrage that isn't.

I'm not a big Obama supporter in many aspects, but he did the right thing in a classy way here.  I don't often spout political stuff on here, but she--and we--deserve better than this.

I take my politics seriously but not personally.  I'll happily give you helpful answers on role-playing threads.

(It's also why I've been warning you what's down those links.  While I wish you'd take a look, I'm not going to try to trick you into it.)
