This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

It is certainly is either "stupid, false, or absurd" to claim anyone does anything in every thread.

Add in the fact that you've been known to lock a thread so as to get the last word in makes this accusation rather pathetic.

Yeah, I get annoyed at guys who are so obsessed with getting the final word in that they're willing not to stop posting the most inane shit as long as they're the last box seen in a thread. So I will certainly close threads in order to deny them the satisfaction.

Oi! Lay 'em on the table, boys... we'll see who's e-peen is longer right quick!

Seriously: as a third party I can see better responses from either of you than this. You guys are failing Spikes First Law of Internet Debates:

Entertain me, Motherfuckers!
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

RPGPundit, will you agree to self-publish your next RPG and put out the entire PDF for free and test your theory that such a maneuver will result in increased physical sales?

The reason I didn't self-publish FtA! is because I'm far too lazy to bother with that.  I'm working on a new project now (not a full-blown RPG though) which is going to be published by another small-press publisher.

So the answer is no, I'm not going to bother doing something like that to satisfy a bunch of internet wankers. The evidence of these things is already speaking for itself.

Ghost Whistler

Until the media industries start living in the present and meeting the demands of customers they might as well piss in the wind for all their oaning about piracy and morality. There's nothing moral or immoral about priacy; it's a perfectly natural consequence of the system we live under. I for instance would like to see DVD's for movies released at the same time as the film comes out in the cinema; i can't stand cinemas as they are full of noisy idiots who play with their phones. Why not also sell said DVD's for the same price as the movie ticket. I don't think any dvd is worth more than £5 personally. I could care less about commentaries, trailers, extra bits from the cutting room floor, alternate endings and all that bullshit. I'm not going to buy a brand new dvd at full price i'll just wait till its cheap second hand - which really is no different than if i torrented it off the interweb. End result the industry loses out. Same principle with music and tv, games and even books. I can download a torrent of Heroes volume 4 from the states but is it more moral that i wait until the bbc gets it's arse into gear and airs it. Stupid.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

No it confirms that I want to be in charge of how I consume media. That you can't do any better as a response confirms that you have nothing to offer.

How does one "respond" to someone who vomited  that it is the same thing to buy a DVD release second hand or to pirate it off the internet?

You may as well argue that buying a used car is just like stealing one... you'd get the same reaction.

No, the reason I'm not self publishing is the same reason why the record industry isn't actually adapting to change: laziness.
In my case, its easier to get someone else to publish the book for me, because these books are a labour of love to create, but I'm not really fascinated by the process of actually selling them; in the Record Industry's case it means that its easier for them to just try to lobby for the death sentence for preteens and seniors who download a song off emule than to actually have to change the way they make money.

Guys,

Pundit's true defense is that he's honest.

He chose a publisher, and he's mostly okay with how that publisher wants to do things.

However, more and more it is starting to become clear that in various media offering some things for free actually encourages later purchases.

Sometimes its a person's own sense of ethics and morality.

In my case - one of my players gave me a ripped copy of the TV series "Firefly" ....I like it so much that I felt bad about having pirated material that I was watching. So, a month later I bought my own copy of the series at a store and gave my friend back his homemade versions of the episodes.
Later he loaned those copies to a friend in the group - and I know that she eventually boiught a factory made copy of the episodes.

In one way you might say we were doing our own homemade version of advertising the show fr Fox Video and Joss Whedon.
