This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Meanwhile, in Russia...

Quote from: gleichman;245069You seek the death of people everywhere. How's that American?
Really Gleichman, you're better than this.  I didn't say that I have any connection with those values, I was just saying that from my perspective, the good things about America (giving the fellow who needs it a hand up, hard work, liberty to think and speak as you please) seem to be the kinds of things the right has been targetting to destroy.
Quote from: gleichman;245069I'm sorry walkerp, but a mere handful of years ago- you'd be widely stated as a nutcase. And if those American values hadn't decayed due to the Left- that would be the case today.
I think most people still consider my beliefs about humanity to be those of a nutcase.  That seems to be the majority opinion here for sure.

Given that they don't, why would you even think for a minute that you understood them or even had enough of grasp to judge (unto death) those who do?

For example:

Quote from: walkerp;245101I was just saying that from my perspective, the good things about America (giving the fellow who needs it a hand up, hard work, liberty to think and speak as you please) seem to be the kinds of things the right has been targetting to destroy.

I consider the above quote to be lie, one that only the ignorant would put forth.

Hell Walkerp, I have a son who would die to save your life (worthless as it is)- that's the job that hateful right-winger volunteered for. Even I would give you a hand up if you really needed it.

You're a bitter man, walkerp. And you know nothing of the people you condemn.

I think it's clear that it is I, a very traditional American who draws the fire here walkerp. Not you.

Quote from: walkerp;245001That was a phenomenon during the '60s and into the early '70s among some of the intellectual elite (the French historian Lefebvre being one of the more notable) but once the real information started coming out, nobody was saying that anymore.  And today, it's not even an issue that Stalin was possibly worse than Hitler.

They've just shifted the love over to Castro and Che Guevara because the "real information" is still suppressed in Cuba allowing people like Michael Moore to go there and make documentaries saying how wonderful everything is.

I actually vote on them all- but not based upon what anyone promises to do about them.

You can not compare Che and Castro to Stalin.  Castro certainly is responsible for some serious human rights violations but no more than the U.S. government or the Canadian one.  Oh, but I guess you have the "real information."

Again, to support Aos's analysis, here is an example of the self-victimization he referred to.

I don't who does or does not draw the overall fire.  I am just saying that when it comes to my personal political philosophy and position on the environment, there is nobody on this site, right or left, who thinks for a second that I even have an argument.  I was just pointing that out because you were using the argument that in this modern, liberal climate supposedly fringe views like mine were tolerated and even encouraged.

But I should not have expected you to be able to stick with a single line of logic like that, so blinded are you by your fervour to put forth your bitter (I'm really not a bitter person, pessimistic as hell, but most of my life is filled with happiness, satisfaction and even a lot of joy) ideology.

I think it is this that draws the fire on you, not your actual position.

Do a search on my name Walkerp, and see how many posts in the last week reference me highly negatively. Do the same for yourself- exclude each other. To make it even more fair, count each author as one event, no matter how many posts they make.

Then come back and call it self-victimization if you can.

Well I tend to post up in the roleplaying section.  It's a little more constructive and positive (though when I first came in and dared to say that D20 sucked, you should have seen the vitriol; that was before 4e came out and everyone decided I was right of course).  So that puts up my ratio.

But I also don't spend days and days trying to argue with everyone that we should all die.  I made my point, everybody knows it, it gets brought up every now and then (usually by you when you have no other means of discounting my points) and then dropped.  You on the other hand just keep going and going and going, because it's clear that you are here as a propaganda tool. I put demonoid in the same camp, but he hasn't been here as long.

Oh shit!  I just realized that I had sworn to never talk to you again in off-topic!  Yak!  My bad.  My apologies.  I need to tie a string around my finger or something.  Sorry.  Ignore all my posts.  I need to stop hanging out down here altogether.  It's just been kind of quiet upstairs and all of my current gaming issues are more or less resolved for the time being.

Odd, I haven't seen boats of people fleeing Canada or the US... weird that.

Check out this last weeks posts walkerp, again just search on my name. See when and how I'm referenced in threads I've made no posts in.

I'm no propaganda tool walkerp. Propaganda doesn't talk to people or attempt to make their case. They don't respond- they move first. And the choice you're presenting me- be silent or speak your beliefs and be attacked at every corner is a fun choice now isn't it?

Effectively, you want me to give clear ground to the propaganda of the Left. Nice walkerp. You know, that would have more meaning as advice if you weren't a man of of the Left.
