Title: Help with Avatar
Post by: Spike on May 21, 2007, 01:20:38 PM
I have a picture I need to resize for use as an Avatar. I can crop it, but I can't shrink it. Anyone with the mad photoshop skillz willing to lend a hand?

Thanks in advance

If I were home, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Actually it'd take me a few minutes, what with downloading it and opening up Photoshop and doing the stuff and saving it and putting a moustache on it.  But I mean, yeah, I'd do it.

If I were home.

If it's not an animation you should be able to shrink it with Microsoft Paint.

Just click on image size in your menu choices while you have it in adobe photoshop.
... while in that menu choice  - change the pixel count to whatever this forum allows size-wise. ( I think its 100 pixels max for bigest dimension, SJG is 80 pixels)

Remember to save it under a different name from your orginal in whatever file you park your avatar images in.  After all if you accidentally make a mistake - you might want to still go back to the original to try again.

 That should work, Spike.

 Good luck.

I don't have access to Adobe photoshop, and paint isn't letting me shrink it, only carve away extra. It's a damn big picture however, so cutting it down to size isn't going to work...all you'd see is a swatch of color!

in MS Paint go to Image=>Stretch/Skew and then just change the % until you get down to the size you want.

With those you can crop and resize pictures online, especially snipshot looks really neat.

you needs the GIMP.

http://www.gimp.org/

Much better than Paint, and at "Free", it pretty well beats Photoshop's price tag, especially since it does basically everything PS can do.

I can try to work on posting the larger one. That's me, the Pikachu, hard at work at my computer playing Eve Online, headset at teh ready.

Kinda dull, but I figured a welcome break from spanking my own ass for a while...
