This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anyone seen the Spanish film [rec]?  It's a sort of zombie horror thing set in a single Spanish apartment block in Barcelona.  The film clocks in at a tight 75 minutes, and is unusually scary and very well done.  Lots of wonderful bits of officialese from the authorities who seal off the building and every now and again make reassuring comments by loudspeaker while cautioning people to make no attempt to leave.

Remade in the US as Quarantine, but remakes rarely add much value (I'd personally give an honourable exception to Dawn of the Dead though), the original however is as the thread title says some scary ass shit.

One Horse Town

Yeah, i've heard it's meant to be good. Not seen it yet, but i'll get round to it.

I hear you on the remake front. Although i have to say (and i seem to be in the minority here) that the remake of The Grudge scared me silly when i first saw it.

Spike

A review site I frequent compared the original ([rec]) with the remake (Quarentine) with a few points for Quarentine being almost completely as good, and more accessable, and disparaging remarks about how fast the remake train is churning these days.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

No, I haven't seen it, nor even heard of it.  I do like a good zombie flick.  Netflix has it and I've added to my queue.  Thanks!

Spain has produced some good stuff when it comes to horror. Anothor flick to check out is, Alejandro Amenabar's Tesis. His American film The Others was a bit crappy but the original Abre los ojos was interesting. Forget about the Cruise remake.

David R

Netflix rocks!  They have Tesis as well, and I have added to my queue.  Thanks!

Danger

Ah!  Titles noted and recorded!

Thanks, amigos!

Danger (getting back to Carrie as we speak)
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

Serious Paul

Added to my list of stuff for my wife to check out. Her family is from the Madrid area, and she would love to see some homegrown stuff! (So to speak!)

Absolutely. The second part is being filmed right now, near my home :)
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).
