This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: David RHowever I do feel that some of my points regarding the Pundit, moderation and the general perception of this site is valid. Perhaps I was a tad bellicose in the way how I expressed them.

I didn't perceive any bellicosity, David.

I was merely reminding myself aloud as to why I am enjoying this place and sharing it in the process. It's sort of looking at the half-full part of my glass, if you get what I mean.

You are right about certain things, such as Pundit. That's the "half-empty" part of the glass. I do my best to live with it. Fortunately, his moderation policy means we can express when we don't agree.

Quote from: droogAs if my wife can even read!

Pundick, you must email me for the correct way to treat a woman so that she submits to your authority.

It isn't about authority. Its about honesty. You have to LIE to be in a relationship. You especially have to LIE to stay married. I mean, unless you're a total wimp of a man.

Women in relationships with you will lie to you about their motives, and will want you to tell them lies rather than truths they would not like to hear.

Quote from: TonyLBAre you seriously confused how women could be offended by your attitude?

It's not about you trolling the boards for girlfriends.  Nobody thinks that's going to happen.

But your very premise can be boiled down to "Most women are whores, but at least a few are honest about it."  That's some offensive shit there, man.

If you want to say "Yeah, it'll drive women away, but so-the-fuck-what?  This is a place where we say offensive, objectionable things, and that's that," then that's one thing.  But to say that you don't think it's offensive?  That's not even crazy.  That's just massively socially inept.  It's offensive ... own that.

Women use sex to get what they want from men.  Are you seriously trying to pretend this isn't true? I would say that unless what they want is specifically cold hard cash (or, in some places, major credit cards) that still wouldn't make them whores. If you want to see them as whores, well I guess that's your thing.
Like I said, I personally feel that whores have been given a bad rep. Some of them are wonderful people, and they're honest, which most women aren't (at least about the whole "I'll use sex to make you act the way I want you to" thing).

Quote from: Consonant DudeWell, there's first and foremost what Tony just mentioned. It's simply not a welcoming attitude. It's pretty clear you make rabid attacks on Forge supporters because they are part of a group you hate. You make them feel unwelcome. It's pretty clear you have a dislike for woman. And you will make them feel unwelcome.

That's where you're wrong. I like women just fine.

QuoteSecondly, it's another in a long list of cues showing that you are deranged and delusional. Because you don't have a firm grasp of reality, it is difficult to believe you will be able to make the right calls consistently.

There's a cue right there, that you're an idiot. Do you have something constructive to say, or are you just here to spew bile and accusations?
If not, you can feel free to leave this forum.

QuoteThirdly, it sheds another light on your ability to review and criticize. I only knew you by reputation before coming here. I was kind of wondering what was up with your reviews of Borgstrom's work. These new posts of yours here hint that you are totally unfit to review the work of female RPG writers and I wouldn't be surprised if you were unable to moderate woman gamers.

Dude, I utterly despised Nobilis back when I mistakenly thought "R. Sean Borgstrom" had a dong. Its got nothing to do with that.

QuoteAnd finally, the fact you are the head of this website means you represent us. And I'm not comfortable with you making vile statements like that. I'm ok if you are eccentric. I'm willing to laugh it off when you paint certain gamers with broad strokes because it's gaming. But that's something else, man.

Then feel free to go fuck off. If me saying something as universally well-known but universally hushed-up in our society as "many women use sex to get what they want from men", and that makes me enough of a monster that you're uncomfortable being around me, just fuck off. You won't do well here.

Quote from: John MorrowCorrect, just like hobbies are judged by their cat piss men and their lawn crappers.  Which is why I've said, and still think, that RPGPundit is essentially a lawn crapper in the hobby (the written equivalent of a cat piss man).  He makes it look bad.  But the reason why I'm here is that this particular lawn crapper has the guts to run a message board where you won't get moderated for saying so, not simply for calling the moderator a lawn crapper but for calling anyone else one because it might hurt someone's feelings.

I would think its the guys who run around screaming "Real RPGs are ART!!" are the ones who make it look bad and make the people playing it seem delusional. The only way I might make the hobby look bad is by bringing attention to these fuckers in the process of pointing out how they're all a bunch of shitheads.

Quote from: RPGPunditWomen use sex to get what they want from men.  Are you seriously trying to pretend this isn't true?
Some women may.  Claiming that all or even most women do is sheer folly.

All your strident insistence shows is that you haven't been in a relationship that is about more than this kind of shit.  It doesn't show that they don't exist.

As with many things:  My personal experience flatly contradicts your theory.  You choose to believe that I am either deceiving you or deceiving myself about my personal experience, rather than consider that your theory may be flawed.

Could it be equally said that most men give women anything they want in hopes of getting sex? That's a bit cynical as well, but as a guy, I can say there's more than a bit of truth in it. The only distinction is that the woman is the one with the final say, usually.

Using people goes both ways, most of the time.

Maybe it's my lower than average sex-drive coupled with the fact that now my wife makes over double the money than I do talking, but my marriage has never been a tug of war over stuff with sex as the primary weapon.

But then again, I'm not a superficial, cynical bastard.

Yeah, no, I can totally see that.

It's not as if roleplaying games have a reputation as attracting a "no girls allowed", vicariously slaughter-happy, socially awkward demographic. It's not as if the occurance of rape in RPG sessions isn't so disturbingly common that it's the first thing some female would-be gamers ask about. Couldn't be.

No, we've got a bad reputation in the rest of society as pretentious ruffle-shirted kerchief-sniffing drama school 'artistes', not misogynistic chest-thumping social retards. Thank god we've got you around to point out where the real problems in public perception are. I mean, people totally think Expressionist art and light chamber music when they think RPGs, not Vallejo tits'n'muscles paintings and Heavy Metal magazine.

Heroism is no more than a chapter in a tale of submission.
"There is a general risk that those who flock together, on the Internet or elsewhere, will end up both confident and wrong [..]. They may even think of their fellow citizens as opponents or adversaries in some kind of 'war'." - Cass R. Sunstein

If ever a thread should receive a stake through the heart, it's this one. As an incidental observation, there are twice as many people viewing the OT forum as there are the RPG forum at the moment. :deflated:
