Gods, I remember watching this. It was up there with the episode about werewolves and vampires fighting for control of a town that started by slow descent into gaming.
I was impressed by the attention to detail and the name references, but I just aquired all the Justice League stuff on DVD and after watching those, man, that sucky pre-Batman TAS American animation just hurts to look at.
Izzat "Collect Call of Cthulhu"? That's a priceless episode.
I remember one called "Ragnarok 'N' Roll", which was about a man whose girlfriend ha spurned him; broken, he wandered the world and studied occultism, then returned to NYC with a flute which, when played, would destroy the world.
This show is not on DVD, but Seinfeld is. Tanj!

Quick Google Fu reveals that "Collect Call" was written by Michael Reaves, who wrote a lot of the "D&D" cartoon and TONS of other stuff, and that "Ragnarok" was written by Joseph Michael Straczynski, of "I totally created Babylon 5" fame.

As long as the genre is comedy the Ghost Busters have nothing to fear.
I think a justice league cartoon had a bit with the JL fighting the mythos, expect that cthulhu was renamed "ik thool tu" and there were multiple Y'golonacs, and they weren't as bloated or yellow as the official Y'golonac.
Speaking of the ghostbusters cartoon, I remember some nut groups with too much time on their hans and not enough brains in their heads bitching about an episode they claimed promoted suicide and mass murder.
Some possessed buy was going to destroy the world, and the only way to stop him was for the GB to set their proton packs to overload, causing an explosion that would have taken out a 1/2 mile across section of manhatten, killing millions but saving the world, and the GBs had to stay with the packs to keep the enemy from shutting them off.
The situation was averted, of course, by another way, but some "concerned" idiots thought the episode endorsed suicide and mass murder as a solution to a problem.
