I rarely posted here. I think perhaps since 2006 I had around 6000 posts at rpg.net. I tend to be accepting of folks. I think there was an incident four years ago wherein I earned a warning. Then a bit ago, maybe a month, I was banned for trying to sort out how a market solution for the post office could be viable, while coming to an argument about the nature of so-called "murder capitalism." I prodded a responder on that notion to point out that modern communism has a pretty dismal record, too, in terms of its killing rate (I did such since a person gestured about their anarcho-communist stance). Anyway it was weird. I earned a ban.
But you know? The infractions policy there includes a reference to allow someone to appeal. I messaged on that 4 times, and never heard back form an admin. I think it's best to not send a final note, but this is what I wanted to craft to finalize things:
"Komrade!
Let me congratulate you for censoring my words and presence which offered ideas with which you disagree. Second, delete all of my personal information and all my posts, including all 6000+ which never seemed to indicate to me that I was such an offender of Thy High Station. Any record of my activity must be expunged pursuant to federal law.
I should like to point out that I have noticed other anti-revolutionary ideas you have tolerated and trust you will immediately mend your ways and remove those offenders, before you, too, are cancelled. We cannot let freedom of thought and speech into a place where everyone knows exactly what people should think, believe, and say.
Your Komrade in the revolution,
Soundchaser"
[I think it was entertaining there, but I enjoy the banter here; I have lurked for too long and seek to engage thoughtfully about RPGs... on another note, is there a market forum herein for trading and the like?]
Welcome, Soundchaser! You picked an odd forum (Media) to post this message, but then I don't think there's a general forum.
Yes, I didn't want to impose on the rpg discussions. It seemed better to stick it into this area (and I found that a few threads like this have been posted herein over the past few years).
Thanks for welcoming me!
Welcome! The world is becoming a terrifying place...
Thanks! Seems normal around here.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I'm not laughing to be cruel. We've had some
interesting conversations over here.
Hello, soundchaser! I thought your username looked familiar. I believe you and I PMed each other a few times over on rpg.net a few years back, regarding the local gaming scene. We are/were from the same general area, and I was looking for a local group. I've found a local group since then, and we started a Basic Fantasy campaign....which then got put on hold due to the COVID situation.
What have you been playing lately?
Heard of WoFun? Bought a bunch of AWI and ECW plexiglass 18mm. So, tabletop war games.
Lots of D&D5e, my players are at level 8 in Night Below and about to reconnoiter the City of the Glass Pool.

Glad to hear you started BF at least. My hope is to get Traveller and/or BTVS going soon.
Welcome! There is little interesting stuff left on RPGNet anymore, at least beyond gawking at their traffic accident of a moderation policy. Hope you'll find this forum a good place for discussion.
Honestly, the bizarre behavior of TBP could fill a thread, but I'll leave it at this:
The mods there are notoriously left-leaning, thin skinned, and blatantly play favorites. And as a friend of mine pointed out, nothing can be done about it in practical terms -- except leave.
Welcome aboard, soundchaser :)
Welcome! Yeah, you're hardly alone. I left years ago when the no-supporting-anything-Trump-does policy was put in place. For my own good. When I left, I had well over 10,000 posts and a virtually stirling record - one warning years ago for... I don't even remember, something like breaking a "drop this line of discussion in this thread" red-text, or something.
Some time this summer, I tried to log in to look for an old thread to check something, and saw I'd been banned for off-site harassment, for some reason. Tried to inquire to find out what I was accused of doing, heard nothing back. Gave up. Oh well. Fuck that place, I guess. Watching the circus from afar, I'd probably cop a ban accidentally anyways if I returned. It sounds like even the slightest deviation from the group consensus there is now a banning offense. They've really turned it in to an echochamber.
I am still a poster there but i feel like they are activly seeking out ways to fight ''thoughtcrime'' that big brother tried to eradicate. So the end result is a forum not for free speech but for promoting ones views and propaganda. Yep, that is the totalitarian method allright. At the same time this forum dosent get enough traction as a viable alternative in my view, i found this place in the past while looking for Amber rpg things, i did not seek out freethinkers. That was because back then i dont remember anything about politics beeing so goddamn intrusive, people just talked about games. Who knew those were the golden free years?
They need to just wipe the Tangency board off the forum entirely.
Straight up say 'No politics. We don't care if you have a Donald Trump body pillow or Joe Biden's face tattooed on your chest. This is a place for games. And don't act like an asshat either.'
But of course, because they're actively involved in 'diversity' (except the intellectual/political kind) and 'safe spaces', they'll never narrow the rules down to something sane and normal.
It's pretty sad, really. There are a lot of helpful and kind people over there. I think there's a radical minority running things.

From their point of view, 'no politics' inherently favors the status quo, and the status quo is irredeemably, intolerably oppressive and corrupt, so to bar political discussion is to throw in with the enemies of Love and Tolerance. For an example, see this post (https://forum.rpg.net/index.php?threads/other-rpg-discussion-forums.867267/post-23500390) about the RPG Pub ...

This, of course, is exactly what they do (bar discussion)... and thus, true colors revealed, they are indeed enemies of Love and Tolerance, themselves. Thusly, devilry is truly the gist of the thing. Words are cheap. Actions speak loud and clear.

This is what we were already saying when TheRPGSite was founded in its current form in 2006. 16 years later, people are still saying it, except Tangency, which used to be a simple nuisance, has eaten the rest of the forums. ;D
The rot goes too deep.
Welcome aboard! I hope you enjoy your stay
It's a shame RPG.net is a madhouse and a cesspit these days

Would that be the rot of poor arithmetic?
Bah! Numbers... :D
I have greatly enjoyed comments, thanks for certifying I am not crazy and those rpgnet forum(s) things are goofed up.
To my mind, it's a mix of Marx, Nietzsche, Sartre, and Foucault. Just utterly disastrous philosophical commitments uncritically wielded.
It is far simpler than that. De Touqueville (mangled that spelling, didn't I?), in his Ancien Regime history of the French Revolution, very early in, discusses the religious nature of Virtue Signalling and how it differs from a Sin based religion.
Once you make Virtue (rather than Sin) the centerpiece of your morality, you are trapped in a death spiral. Unlike Sin, which is a sort of binary state, Virtue is open ended, you can ALWAYS be more virtuous, and if that is how 'goodness' is measured, you must always strive to be better, to demonstrate how much better you are, and someone is always doing the same thing, forcing you to ever increase the virtue you signal to keep up.
Anyone who attempts to opt out of the system is wicked (Because They are not Virtuous) and must be purged to prove one's own virtue, as the good cannot permit the wicked to go unpunished... and because of course the extremity of the punishment is also a means of proving virtue, you very quickly get to murdering (or in the internet, banning people) for increasingly trivial acts.
At the core its basic human nature and a poor choice of moral judgement. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that hundreds of ancient soceties had fallen into teh same self destructive trap, and we simply never learned of them because they could never thrive... mostly because I also am increasingly certain of the aphorism that there is nothing truly new under the sun when it comes to human activity.
Huh I didn't realize the V. S. Junk was an insight from the d'Toc ... genius. Still I stand by the convergence of materialism, atheism, existence as priority over essence, and the triple wedding of these in the banality of Foucault.

Have you heard of James Lindsay? He along with Helen Pluckrose and Peter Bhogosian are the rascals involved in the academic papers hoaxes.
Linday goes pretty deep into Social Justice territory in order to understand and explain it.
Ah yes. The hoax to remove the curtain that hides the post modern wizards ... great stuff.
Just bumped into this. I found it inspiring.

And if you're here, you're probably nuts.
Our wee Mos Eisley is a free speech forum, so buckle up and know there's near zero moderation and that actually leads to better (and more entertaining discussions).
Also, please actively start threads about stuff that interests you!! There's a good chance that if it interests you, there's at least a handful of other posters interested in discussing it. Whenever you scan the main page and nothing jumps out to you, launch your own topic. New posters launching new topics is good stuff.

Please start a thread in the Other Games section about this!! And post pics too.
Always great to hear about new tabletop war game stuff.
