This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

If you lime comedic horror and Vincent price plus Dr.  Phibes you should see Theater of blood.  Similar to Dr. Phibes.  Not as good but good.  Had diana rigg.

Quote from: Voros;994506Quartermass is excellent. Have you seen the same author's horror classic The Stone Tapes?

No.  Gotta look it up now.  Thanks.

Comedy of Terrors: 1963 comedy-horror movie with Vincent Price, Basil Rathbone, Peter Lorre and Boris Karloff all hamming it up. Also the last movie of Joe E. Brown.

Another is The Raven: also from 63 and featuring Price, Karloff and Lorre. Also  a young Jack Nicholson. Really fun wizards duel at the end.

''Shadow. Of the vampire'.  is a unique little. Horror. Movie based on the classic film 'Nosferatu'.

Is that the one with Willem Dafoe as Max Schreck?

Dumarest

Quote from: Schwartzwald;994428''Lifeforce'' has a lot of horror in it but that was usually overlooked due to the nudity it it.

Overlooked or looked over? :D

They had those issued together on a bargain DVD a while back.

Yep. Klaus Kinski is a great vampire in Herzog's Nosferatu as well.

One of the best experiences I ever had was watching the original Nosferatu in the old Brighton theatre, with a full orchestra backing. The music makes a difference, and the result was actually pretty scary.
I pretended that a picture of a toddler was representative of the Muslim Migrant population to Europe and then lied about a Private Message I sent to Pundit when I was admonished for it.  (Edited by Admin)

Its actually not a bad movie. Its just so darn weird and all over the place. Lots of great visuals and effects though.

The Cube - which is more of a psychological horror flick.

The original version of The Handmaid's Tale with Natasha Richardson, Faye Dunaway, and Robert Duvall still creeps me out when I watch it.
"Meh."

I like to stay pretty open-minded and check out what different networks are airing. Some of my go to movies though are:

Nosferatu
Rosemary's Baby
The Exorcist
Candy man
Halloween
Evil Dead
Rocky Horror
Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein
The House on Haunted Hill (and anything else with Vincent price)
Anything from hammer

J-horror and C-Horror as well (The Eye, Ju-On, Dumpling, A Chinese Ghost Story)

Great lists!

If you are watching these at home, take the time to prep the environment. House dark. Phones off. You want to imitate the theater experience as much as possible to activate the suspension of disbelief to max immersion, especially important when watching a film you've seen before.

Absolutely. I was lucky enough to see an amazing restoration in LA years ago. The imagery is iconic and powerful and its amazing how many bits from Nosferatu show up in later films.

I saw Nosferatu as a kid in church for some reason and it scared the living christ out of me. I think it was one of those old crappy projectors they used to use at schools and things.

Yep, they did a similar presentation with Murnau's Faust also - It was good but I found the imagery less iconic.
