This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

QuoteA new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay will be launched by Cubicle 7 Entertainment later this year. The new edition will return players to Warhammer's grim world of perilous adventure, and takes its direction from the first and second editions of the game.

Do I really need another WFRP after v1. and v2.? Hell no. Nevertheless, I'm interested in seeing what they whip up.

Can't see me buying it but colour me interested to see how it goes.

Um... You mean the game by the guy who online stalked one of the mods here and then created a fake site and doxxed said moderators RL name and info, and got himself banned? That game?

addendum: Got it. Just them reporting on the licensing of the game from GW to C7.

No. Legit WFRP from Cubicle 7.

Ahh. The link was Zwei's site.

Adendum: Got it. GW licensed WHFRPG to C7.

I don't think we really need a new version (V1 and 2) are still great games.

However, if it has to be done, C7 are a good crowd to do it. And Great to see them going back to the game's proper roots (and not the direction FFG went with 3e). Fingers crossed!

Did they license just the setting or one of the RPG systems? Both?

Hmm... Not too sure. But I suspect that they'd probably be able to use the mechanics with the license (like Black Industries did but updated it).

C7 will probably want to do their own thing with it even if they have the original mechanics usage.

If they could get a little more of the 1e spirit into the 2e mechanics and maybe loosen up the 2e magic system and make it fun again, then maybe, just maybe.  If it's in the Age of Sigmar setting I won't care if it contains real magic spells and warpstone, I won't touch it.

Definitely... Even though I quite like the 2e's system I still ran the Enemy Within with it. I think if they want to do it justice they really should look at the 1e's vibe again. More insidious and less overt chaos, etc. Age of Sigmar can feck off!

I found 2e's magic to be too rigid and too linked to the schools of wizardry.  It made wizards pretty generic IMO.

Hey as long as they focus on being a pen and paper game with no gimmicks they can get my dollar.

Does one post Arnold Schwarzenegger or Shia LeBeouf in response to this topic's title: "Do it returns to WFRP 4e"? Decisions, decisions...

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.
