This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

We are in the presence of greatness...

On the other hand, you'd make Kickstarter history if you just told everyone to Tongue your Peehole.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Quote from: Gronan of Simmerya;942466I owe Tavis Allston of Autarch Games BIG TIME for that advice.

The truth is, for the last year or 18 months I just haven't been in the mood to work on it, for a variety of reasons.  Fortunately, I don't owe anybody anything; if I never DO get in the mood to finish it, it's no skin off anybody's nose.

Thank Crom there isn't a mob of people who paid me money wondering where the Hell their book is.

Where the hell's my book!

Oh. Wait a minute. I'm still writing the thing. Let me rephrase it.

Where the hell's your damn book?

Seriously, good advice, and good to hold off; if you try to force it, it's going to wind up a disaster. I learned that the hard way with mine, and after I sat back and let it ferment for a while, version 2.0 turned out to be one heck of a better book then version 1.0 ever was.

Take your time; write when your passion moves you, my General!

Quote from: Gronan of Simmerya;942405After the manuscript is finished.  Best advice I ever got.

Absolutely. Its cool to include the backers in the final edit process (free editors!) and their input is good for finding out bits the crowd may enjoy hearing more about. A key value of KS is the interaction with backers FAR beyond the concept of pre-order customers.

Now, now, I only tell somebody to tongue my pee hole if they are stupid, annoying, AND insulting.

Didn't think any disrespect was involved, no worries.

I sort of ignored everything produced after 1977 or so, so if I had ever heard of Bucknard I had forgotten, that's all.  Hence my confusion.

For all I know Gary may have based it off my name, I have no idea.  No info from me, sorry.

Ah, the francophone! Usually played by Cacaphonix, as I recall...

I really regret not getting the Metal Magic "Asterix" line...

Nice, interview. Yes, you sound like a nice, even normal person, last quote notwithstanding.

I enjoyed hearing her say "nerd" in her BBC accent.

While we are talking names, family and pronounciation:

I was perusing the DMG, and found some of the Artifacts sound like they came out of family life with small children. The recorder of Ye'Cind most obviously. Then, Queen Ahlissa's Marvelous Nightingale, created by some Xagy and the goddess Joramy had me think: Why on earth is Greyhawk the only game I know that has a goddess of Volcanoes and eruptive Anger that is Neutral Good? And why would she cooperate with one of Gary's anagrams to create an expensive and annoying soundmaking toy for one of Gary's kids?

It struck me:

Joramy, that must then be Gary's wife!
And lo and behold: His first wife's name is Mary Jo Gygax.

And if we further look up Joramy's portfolio, the marriage must have been under pressure then already.

Anyone any insight on that?
It does not show up in the regualar "keys" to Greyhawk anagrams and puns, like grodogs. Sorry if everyone was in on the joke since 77. If so, nothing to see here.

The text in the "portfolio" is much later than 1977.  The DMG is 1981 or so, for one thing, and even then that material does not appear.
