This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

the new cover as a jpeg.  going for the old world feel.  What are your thoughts?

Although this genre holds little interest for me this cover, especially the back, rocks.  Nice vibe.   This cover would get me to pick this up and look at it.  And I'm not even a genre fan.

I usually want "simpler" but in this case, some sort of ornamentation around the black and white artwork might help it integrate with the multicolor brown cover a bit more. Right now, the B&W art feels out of place and just pasted there.

Or maybe go with a silhouette of a tree on the cover? Or a pyre?

I agree.

Both b/w and brown scale connate old fashioned, but together look ruin the effect. Make both brown scale or both b/w.

Much, much nicer! Can you darken the inset picture just a touch? The oval makes it fit better too! :D

That I can do.  I love this type of work, more even than the writing. :p

I like the new one as well.  The oval makes me think of a cameo, very nice.

Good call. I couldn't think why it worked better. Do you think adding a simple cameo frame would make it better? (Rway218, is adding a simple cameo frame simple?)

Edit: I'm a software developer and have done stuff like this for docs, grants, presentation posters, and papers, as well as GUIs and programs, so I understand "simple" isn't always simple to do.

I had my wife take a look at the cover. She thought tattered edges and/or tears or cracks through the picture might add to the "old" feel.

Sorry, one more question: how easy is the text to read both in print and on the screen?

Spinachcat

I like the background.
I am okay on the art.
I do not like the title font.

much easier than in this jpeg.  I will get a proof in a few days of the hard cover.  maybe by January I'll know better

If there a cursive font that looks like it was written with a quill pen that is still easy to resd?

Not when printed.  I tried a few that really had a good feel, but none worked off screen
