This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Who on here is going to Gen Con?

do you have any room?
Like a half a bed for one night?

Just found out yesterday that my schedule will let me go.

Wasn't planning on going, but I'll drive you up there if you would like.

I'll try to stop by and say "HI".
Am not promising to be in 'Klingon gear' this year. (Too hot in August).Although I might wear the top hat that is in my avatar picture. There are least 5 booths or tables where I have stop by and say Hello. Also, must get that new Star Trek Role playing game.

All of you have an awesome time!!

Please post lots of pics!

Koltar, as Star Trek fan & RPGer, your review of the new ST game will be interesting. I thought Modiphius was doing playtest demos this GenCon and selling it next year though. Am I wrong?

I might photograph the show next year. It's not the same kind of show it used to be. Lot of celebrities and suits. Lots of gaming throughout all of downtown Indianapolis. Price is up... Weekend game badge $130.

Recordbreaking attendance again, pretty sure the crowd today was over 30,000 and it is only Thursday.

They're not doing 'play-test' there or selling books - I was very disappointed about that. Their pre-release artwork is great - evokes the mood of the original show really well.
What they ARE doing is taking contact information for a free play test kit they are going to send out in September.

I got back last night at 3 am.  What a great con, although it's so big it's impossible to really have those small personal moments with the game designers and the like on the con floor that I enjoy so much (outside of the Cubicle 7 booth, where I was delighted to find a friend from high school.)  On the other hand, those moments were in abundance at the games I played -- I ran four games for Pelgrane, and they all went terribly well.  My Esoterrorists 2e game had four players, it was late at night, and everything came together so well, it might be one of those games I remember for the rest of my life, but they were all really, really good.

RPG-wise I got the London boxed set for CoC, Curse of Nineveh, a collector's edition of Masks of Nyarlathotep, and Timewatch and Delta Green KS swag arrived right around the same time, so I got them too.  It's a good week for gaming.

Hackmaster

We had a great time at the con.

I'm fairly certain we passed by Koltar outside of the vendor hall one day.

We played several games including 7th Sea 1st ed, L5R, Star Wars Edge of the Empire, but the best was playing Castles and Crusades. Steve Chenault (the writer) was our DM and he ran a very fun game for a table of 14 players that went smooth as can be and had several memorable moments.

I picked up several C&C books and a few *world games as well as the new Force Awakens Star Wars intro set.

I need to catch up on some sleep and then sit down to read some of the new books!

Koltar took pix this year, I just drove. He was going to email some photos for me to upload. It was busy, a real clusterf^&%. Maybe 65,000 I would guess. They were setting up Booths right out on the Street this year. Over 550 in the dealer hall. All the hotels overflowing. Caravans of food trucks rolled in to keep the gamers fed.

Got kicked out my favorite temporary parking spot this year on Saturday by IPD when the Mayor rolled in with an escort.

Made me laugh and think of the City-State of the Imperial Overlord.
