This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

RPG.net's Gaming Index hits 6,000.

I know folk love to jump at even the whisper of a negative issue at RPG.net, but I wanted to take a moment and share something really positive coming from the site - the Gaming Index.

This is an enormous database, the largest online, of tons and tons of RPGs.  With over 6,000 entries, whatever you're looking for is likely there.  Short reviews and user ratings help you compare and contrast products, and the entries are even linked to longer reviews when available.

Seriously, take a look at it.  Search for a few games, rate a few products, and share your thoughts here.  This is a pure gaming tool and, love or hate RPG.net, I think it's something that really benefits the roleplaying community generally.

What do you think?

yup, its probly the best feature RPG.net has, IMO.

I have add some games myself, ranked a bunch as well.

I was reading some of the reviews, and people get a bit harsh at times. The site could definitely use more stringent moderation.

The Good Assyrian

I've never looked at it before.  It's pretty neat!

Thanks!

Heh.  And yet you still get people complaining about how RPGnet "isn't really oriented toward RPGs any more".

I've added a few items to that list as well, and rated/reviewed over a dozen.  It's a neat resource.

I've seen it and rated a few books, mostly old SR sourcebooks. It's a great resource, though I have to question the Top/Bottom rankings. Some stuff just doesn't make sense.

RPG.net as a whole is still a roleplaying website.

But many people (like me, I must confess) often refer to the RPG.net forums as "RPG.net".

And it is definitly correct that the RPG.net forums aren't focusing on roleplaying.

The gaming index is really neat, although the ratings are screwed up.

It's great and I love it. I also love the review database at RPGnet. The forums, though, taint the rest of the Big Purple Experience for me ;)

It's pretty good, though I still find the reviews database the site's best resource.

This is off topic though, this is the bitching about rpg.net forum.

The index sucks because it doesn't have my favorite games on it.

If you have to ask which ones, you're too lame to know about 'em. Just crawl back to your cave and play your dumb excuse for a game. Leave the real fun for the real gamers.

You RPGnet sycophants make me sick.
