This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Curt sacked as Mod on tBP.

Wow, this thread is all fucked up :haw:

Quote from: jdrakehI need to be more clear, I think -- he had been banned in the past, but said ban was rescinded. This was prior to his term as a moderator. I think this occurred around the time that Kuma was being pushed out, but I'm not certain on the dates.

Kuma got pushed out?

Officially, I think he stepped down, but I recall somebody (then a mod) telling me that Kuma was asked to step down.

As am I, since he was pretty much single-handedly the force behind my perma-ban.

Yes, but you deserved yours. I'm an innocent victim of circumstance.

Quote from: BalbinusIf Redfox is still reading this, my issues with Curt are with him being needlessly rude to people and often unnecessarily inflammatory.

As to whether he is sensitive or oversensitive about his sexuality, I have no idea, to be honest I hadn't realised he was gay until quite recently (or more likely I simply forgot) so that isn't really something I've given much thought to.  He's just generally overconfrontational IMO.  If anything, I suspect it loses impact when someone is homophobic as he so often reacts aggressively I doubt one would notice the times when it was actually merited if that makes sense.

If all he did was rip someone a new one when they posted something bigoted, I suspect I'd be cheering him on, as I always rather enjoy people doing that.

I can respect that.

I think his bias (and temper) was showing quite a bit at the end of his tenure. He and I clashed on numerous occasions, in fact. He has (I think) mellowed considerably since his departure. IME, the TBP just tends to bring out the worst in some otherwise cool people.

I will say that being a moderator is difficult. You really have to have an easy going temperment to make it work. That said, if you find yourself becoming cranky or not yourself, do everyone a favor and step down.

Be afraid. . . I have admin privelages at a fairly well-trafficked site ;)

Quote from: RPGPunditIt isn't about authority. Its about honesty. You have to LIE to be in a relationship. You especially have to LIE to stay married. I mean, unless you're a total wimp of a man.

Women in relationships with you will lie to you about their motives, and will want you to tell them lies rather than truths they would not like to hear.
Mate, you are so full of shit you're going to burst out like a teenaged boy's nose-pimple.

Quote from: TonyLBSo you think that everyone who is posting here saying that their lovers and wives are good, decent, honest, sexy partners is just freakishly lucky ... or else they're deluding themselves.

Right, and the over 50% divorce rate in american society is just a blip.

Look, I'm sure that there are a few people who really are lucky. Others who are in points in their relationship where they haven't yet run into these issues, or others who have just caved. But now are YOU seriously trying to tell me that in most relationships, women do NOT try to get men to change the way they act, stop doing things they enjoy, start doing things they don't want to do, or give them certain things, in exchange for sex?  Yes, clearly all of my married friends who can't smoke their pipes anymore, or have to pretend they don't look at other women anymore, they just really wanted to give up those things... it certainly couldn't ever have been that they tacitly understood that was the cost of getting laid on a regular basis...

QuoteIt's observer bias either way ... we believe that the world is as we've seen it, but the world we see is the one we have formed around us by attracting some people and repelling others.  The difference is that the world I am living in is populated with caring, decent, sincere people, whereas the world you are living in is, by your accounts ... not.

Do you really want to fight for your right to believe that everybody is as bad as the assholes you seem to surround yourself with?

If by "assholes" you mean 98% of all couples I've ever seen in my life, ever?

Please. People aren't sincere. Someone else claimed that I was effectively saying "all women were whores".  That's not true. I was saying, whores are usually more honest about using sex to get what they want, rather than manipulating the person in their relationship, and essentially being dishonest about what they want and how they get it.

If that, and not the "sex for money" paradigm is now what defines whoredom, then I'd actually really be saying that most women AND men are "whores".  Men do the same thing; they're willing to do all kinds of things, including (and primarily) lying to get what they want, which is usually sex (though it might occasionally be something else, like having someone to clean up after them).

As for me, I'm not willing to lie to get what I want.  And I get plenty of sex, usually without having to pay for more than dinner and a movie. As for cleaning, I have a maid to do that.
