This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

...getting back to Curt,.....

Anybody know if he actually ever plays games any more? Or was he just another rpg.net mod who  talks about games - but hasn't played in years?

Holy Shit.

This:

Quote from: RPGPunditIts about honesty. You have to LIE to be in a relationship. You especially have to LIE to stay married. I mean, unless you're a total wimp of a man.

Women in relationships with you will lie to you about their motives, and will want you to tell them lies rather than truths they would not like to hear.
Plus This:

Quote from: TonyLBLet me float an opposing theory: You've had shit-poor luck with women, possibly because of the way you behave, and it's made you crazy bitter.
EXPLAINS EVERYTHING.

I mean, for real: Every single blog post, every bellow of "I have truth on my side!", every call to arms, every breath of hate-filled spewing...  Wow.  It frames everything. Everything. The Pundit Equation.

That's incredible, and it actually allows me to accept a lot of stuff that goes on here as an RPGSite member and poster. I've had reservations about getting more involved in this place, but after seeing behind the curtains here... I can just pity the guy, ignore him and move on with the decent gaming discussions.

So, at least that's one good thing to come out of this shitstorm.

Edit: Also, what The Consanant Dude said, with one addition:

Quote from: Consonant DudeYou're just creepy.
And I'd add, "to be pitied".

Quote from: Tyberious FunkThe snark that comes from some of the mods, whether justified or not, suggests that very few of them enjoy what they do.  And I have no sympathy with them for that.

Like this?

"Vipergrrl, you've got to change your sig to something non-homophobic concerning Gaeta, or else I will change it for you.

This is an official warning. I don't want to see that kind of nonsense again.

--Eric"

Really, wouldn't a "Please change your sig. We've had some complaints about it being homophobic" be much, much more appropriate?

Appropriate, yes.  But it wouldn't enable EB to swing his massive cyberdong around and smack TT in the face with it, would it?!?

It's a series of 'prophecies' from someone deep in the BSGdom, the things they were certain of, ending with "...and Gaeta will bone a dude".

This was apparently 'homophobic' because she's expressed a hatred of the character.

Which Eric believes because apparently, he can't tell the words "Gaeta" and "Gaius" apart, and is dead wrong about her opinion.

However, his mistaken impression is considered sufficient.

It's the first time I noticed that the rpg.net moderation assumes you're being aggressive and hostile if you don't police your language constantly. It's like talking RPGs at a sensitivity training class.

It's in the same thread. Some reference to Gaeta sleeping with another man.

In my eyes? Hardly homophobic.

But, this woman has more passion for, and cares more about, this television show than I have cared about anything in my life, ever. So just to put things in perspective on that issue.

Probably because of the way in which they interact with their...subjects. I mean, the moderator in question didn't build to a less polite question; he started the conversation with angry threats. If that's your framework for viewing the site, no wonder you might see everything in aggressive, hostile terms.

She had a different Handle back when I was there, but yeah, she's a HUGE BSG fan. Its been months and months but I remember that part clearly.

13th page, halfway through.

Sounds like a good time to swing away.

I gotta go buy some gaming snacks for my L5R game, anyway.

Maybe when I come back I'll ramble about Rifts or 1e AD&D or something. But no more of this one.

You monkeys try to clean up the cage before you go to bed, huh?

I need to be more clear, I think -- he had been banned in the past, but said ban was rescinded. This was prior to his term as a moderator. I think this occurred around the time that Kuma was being pushed out, but I'm not certain on the dates.
