This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

How so? The Dwarf looks normal enough for reuse as a rich dwarf, noble dwarf, or leader dwarf. And if I was ever going to use a minigun wielding mutant, I'd certainly use a whole troop or series of minigun wielding mutants.

I don't play enough post-apoc games to make the Mutant worth it more than a one shot (Not many people here play Gammaworld anymore, any edition.)

As for the Dwarf, very rarely do I have an All Dwarf Party, so outside of specific encounters with a Dwarven guard of any type, he'd end up on the shelf collecting dust.

They were both pretty cheap back then. The HQ dwarf came with the board game. The Praetorian was nicely priced from Heartbreaker back then too.

If a generic dwarf warrior miniature fails your "multiple use" criteria, I'm guessing that criteria is so specific to your games that it's pretty much meaningless to anyone who regularly plays fantasy RPGs.

All right, so I'm running a basic D&D game, running dungeons.  Not one player is playing a Dwarf, and all the bad guys I'll be fielding during combat encounters (the only time I've used minis) is Undead of various sort, Orcs, Goblins, maybe a Dragon or two.

In fact, most minis based campaign relegates minis usage to combat encounters.  And for me, that Dwarf mini wouldn't get use for YEARS.  Literally.

So I'd like to be able to use that Dwarf in maybe a board game?  Or something I'd use at least every other weekend, as opposed to hope that a player makes a Dwarf.

And then it's the players that want a specific mini that looks as close to what they make as a character,. of which I've known a few.  Which that Dwarf may just not fit.  Ever.

No one wanting to play a dwarf might have something to do with you not having a really boss dwarf mini like the one in the picture. Just saying.

There's a few companies doing pre-painted metal; I've got a sampling of EM4's miniatures and of course Holistic has a line of fantasy characters and villains.  Mirilton, likewise, has a whole line of ready painted metal minis...

That's what I've been saying.  A lot of minis would get little to zero use, so for ME (and just me) I need more uses than fantasy (or post apoc) RPGs for me to feel I'm getting my literal money's worth.

For someone with an extremely limited budget, these things ain't cheap.  I get it, 4-5 USD ain't much to a lot of people, but to me, I can't afford to blow that one something that won't get used.  And that's before getting someone else to paint them for me (I have a friend who will do it at the cost of the mini.  So he'll paint them for the same price I buy 'em.  That's often out of my price range.)
