This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Curt sacked as Mod on tBP.

Quote from: MarionPoliquinI'm glad to see that I'm apparently no longer considered the worst mod in rpg.net's history :D.
Hell, I've never even heard of you.

The internet recognizes only five forms of self-expression: bragging, talking shit, ass kissing, bullshitting, and moaning about how pathetic you are. Combine one with your favorite hobby and get out there!

You wouldn't. Most of the people who considered me a bad mod and had me on their radar are either no longer there or those who are the sorriest to see Curt go.

You know what? I actually wasn't a very good mod at all. But if I were still a mod today, nobody would notice thanks to Darren and Curt. :p

I have. It's been five years and Marion is still the only mod at RPGnet I ever had a personal problem with.
Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what\'s on the other side? Rainbows are visions, but only illusions, and rainbows have nothing to hide.

Yeah, well you probably deserved whatever you got... or not. :D

Well I've never heard of you, either, so where does that leave us? :haw:

I'd like to think it's because you've mastered the Buddhist concept of anatta or maybe the Hindu concept of monism. Since there is no self and no abiding essence of the person, "...the time will come when you see we're all one, and life flows on within and without you."

Well, either that or it's because I change my user name fairly often. :o

Quote from: Christmas ApeNo, that's really not fair.

I think Darren is a raging cock and certainly not the right personality to be a mod, but IMXP he's not quite as full of incredibly stupid opinions.

When it comes to "stupid" anyone with your avatar would be an expert.

Quote from: StumpydaveLooks like there is a line, and it was FINALLY crossed. NOw maybe the moderation there will achieve a modicum of normality.

The sad thing is when he became a mod people were worried because of his abusive past and they were worried he would abuse his power.

People laughed at the people who made their worries known.

Guess is getting the last laugh now

So, I wonder if the modclique will review the bannings curt tossed out and decide aome of them were wrong?

Naaah, admitting that a ban was unjustified, now their style.

Hmm. I just happened on this discussion because I was bored. I too avoid Tangency at tBP. I go there for info on games, nothing more. I didn't even register that Curt was a mod. But I must say this...

That dancing hamster avatar makes me want to kill!!

You are right on both counts.  You were a shitty mod, but preferable to what they have now.

That's not judgemental of you now, though.  You might be pretty cool like almost everyone here.

Quote from: JimBobOzWell, it remains to be seen how long he'll stay away. My experience is that people who say of a forum, "Fuck this, I'm never coming back here again!" almost always do. The ones who really are leaving just go without a word.

Curt has also been permanently banned from TBP (mid 2004-ish) prior to being crowned a mod there. He's likely not going to stay gone, I suspect. TBP is pretty wishy-washy about ban finality/suspensions/revocation of mod powers/etc when it comes to The Chosen Ones. That said, I think that Curt would do better here (as a poster, though, not a mod).

To be clear: Curt has not been banned. He was suspended for two days for hypothetically calling someone's mother "a cum-guzzling whore", and a couple of days after that, they removed his mod powers. After that, he posted that he wouldn't post to rpg.net anymore.

So they pushed him off the throne, but he jumped off the cliff himself.

He can post at any time. His comments (which I quoted above) are that he's tired of rpg.net discussions and thinks gamers are mostly morons anyway. So Dr JimBob diagnoses, "burnout!" When you immerse yourself in something for a while, sometimes you get sick of it. That's normal. After a break, you come back to it refreshed. That's the first reason I think he'll be back as a poster.

The second reason is that the louder they proclaim they're never coming back, the more likely it is they will. Why, here in this thread we have a perfect example, good old GMS, who's several times made big announcements that not only was he never posting on that rpg forum again, but he was also "finishing my current products, and then quitting the rpg industry!" And yet here he is, still writing lots of nice fun rpg books.

I doubt it. I suspect that like Cessna, Dan Davenport and Nina, he would sign up, post to say he's signed up, make another post or two and then disappear. Also, both as a poster and a mod, he always reacted very aggressively towards people saying, "that's bullshit, mate." Since those words are practically the fucking motto of therpgsite, he might not be comfortable here.

I thought out motto was "Go Fuck Yourself" and we had a nice symbol and everything.
