This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

RPGs you love, but know you'll never get players for?

Quote from: TheHistorian;821906I don't see my Toon books being used any time in the foreseeable future.

I would LOVE to try Toon.  But I doubt I'd get my group interested.  At the pace we're going, we may never even play 1E AD&D again, let alone the DC Heroes and Rifts and MAYBE Star Wars or Traveller RPG's I'm dying to try.  It's  a total pipe dream to think I could cram Toon in there, too.  If I could even find it.

Quote from: jeff37923;822394I'd like to run Mekton as something akin to Macross or Gundam, but everyone I've talked to about it wants to make it Battletech.

I would love to run/play Gundam using Mekton. Especially something along the lines of the 08th MS Team. Somewhere around here I have stats in Mekton for the Zaku II, and GM.

In that same vein I would love to run Armored Trooper VOTOMS.

Quote from: Gabriel2;822493Not to make you feel bad, but I'm running and playing both of these right now.  It's just me and one other person, and we alternate GMing, but that's all I need or want.

l will drown my TFOS sorrows in rum and strippers tonight. :p

So close, yet so far away....

I think we should use this thread to find games we all want to play and then have a meetup at a convention to play them. I have got plans to go to DragonCon if anyone else is going to that one?
"Meh."

RPGPundit

I'm pretty sure I could get players for absolutely any RPG I would want to actually run at this point.

King Truffle IV

I've had the hardest time getting players interested in anything vaguely historical, so I guess I have to say Colonial Gothic.

Or alternatively, a "Roll 20" (Or some other VTT type thing) thread here for people to advertise games they really want to run, but can't get players for.

I might be up for Running a 1st edition Stormbringer Session.

Greentongue

I'd have to say Empire of the Petal Throne. Not for the esoteric cultural aspect but for the old fashion melting pot of ideas.
I see it as putting D&D, Traveller and Call of Cthulhu in a blender and hitting the button. Add a sprinkling of"Asian"/"Indian" flavor and play.

Unfortunately, there is too much "historical baggage" for that to happen.
It can only be played "The Correct Way".

Probably a more practical and versatile idea... seeing as folks here are scattered all over the map.
I've been enjoying a number of games on there... mostly short campaigns. It's a bit clunky but in combination with Skype it's been the next best thing to being there.

slayride35

Bare Bones Fantasy. My players don't want to try it because of the d100% system, but its a great little game (84 pages). Reminds me a bit of Savage Worlds with nice, concise rules.

Ulairi

HackMaster! Best RPG there is. My favorite game. I love the books (art, layout, how they are made) and I love the system. My players won't move off our 2E campaign.

Haffrung

Ars Magica. I have dozens of pages of notes for a kick-ass covenant in the Yorkshire Dales. Maps. Characters. Grogs. Faerie realms. Political intrigues with the clergy and nobles. A sustained Ars campaign played with rotating GMs in the troupe format is pretty much my holy grail of gaming. But it will never happen.

camel7

Powers & Perils.

I literally forced my players to play it for two years and a half.

How was i able to do that?

If you put an online advertisement looking for new players to form a group- they are desperately looking for a dungeon master- and they haven't played for years- be sure not to tell them the name of the game you intend to play, just stress the fact that it is an old fantasy one, and you'll be able to do the same.:)

In the end we enjoyed ourselves a lot.

New members looking around and joining in our various conversations? I think it's fine personally, a great way for new members to "introduce themselves". :-)

Palladium's TMNT (which I no longer have the book for, but still.)

FFG's Star Wars stuff

Anima: Beyond Fantasy

Feng Shui 2

Lone Wolf RPG (not the D20 one)

Barbarians of Lemuria (and every single spin off I got for it.)

Savage World's Thrilling Tales...

Pretty much anything I own that isn't D&D 5e or Mutants and Masterminds 3e.
