This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

They've snuck in my personal favorite Sorcerer Origin in an Unearthed Arcana post about Sea Dungeoning Minotaurs!

I'm not sure I'm in love with this rendition, but I'm glad to see an alternative to the two I know I don't care for.
Festering fumaroles vent vile vapors!

One Horse Town

That's actually a pretty good article. Thumbs up from me.

I really like the blend of content and design talk UA has been delivering in its current incarnation.  Not to mention the actual free content they've continued to deliver outside of UA.

What a nice surprise, I did not expect the storm sorceror this soon. They must have had lots of requests. AlthoughI wish they would do these as regular blog posts with a link to pdf. I can't access pdf in my current situation. Could somebody share the details with me? It's a free DL so that ought to be kosher, right?

And there's already a storm cleric in the main book. Players just love storm imagery for some reason. You'd think pyromancer stuff would come out first, or maybe cryomancer to cash in on that Frozen fad.

Not a bad idea, that last one.

Honestly Frozen's brand success puzzles me. It's a good movie, but not as fun as its predecessor Tangled, not that visually interesting, and it just doesn't feel like anything that would normally produce the merchandize sales it has among its target demographic or their purchase-making parents.

But whatever, cryomancer is going to be a more prominent character choice from now on and it would be clever to prepare for that.

The Butcher

Big fan of electric/storm types myself. And of course, minotaur PCs.

Matt

Are they already rolling out the splats? Ha ha, can't wait to see if the D&D crowd falls for it all over again and then complains about how it "ruined" the game. AGAIN. 😂

Do you have kids? Mine watched Frozen over and over and sing the songs.  Tangled they could give a shit about. Probably because Tangled sucks and Frozen is fun.

Raven

Free articles are "splats" now?

I agree with Shipyard. Tangled is the better movie.

The definition has no relation to the price. The same treadmill the D&D fanboys keep getting on and then bitching about.

Apparently they dropped Storm Sorcerer from PHB. The fluff text for Sorcerers has one.

Raven

I don't consider free articles "splats". Splats are paid for sourcebooks, typically player-centric.

But there's already another thread where people are going in circles over rpg lingo.

@ 1of3: I bet you're right! I forgot about that mention.

I'm going to use this storm sorcerer as the fourth data point to aid in my design of an earth sorcerer for my brother. I'll probably import some ideas from the Elemental Evil campaign to do it.

Matter of opinion then. ;)
