This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: languagegeek;792260I'd probably prefer a Classic Reprint than a Newer and Betterer Updateder Greyhawk.

Maybee a little of both. Classic with new stuff without having to advance the timeline XYZ number of years. I've lost track of how far forward they jumped Forgotten Realms, 25-50 years?

I always liked From the Ashes; I know its a bit heretical, but if they did a version in that style, I'd love it.

Quote from: RPGPundit;793220I always liked From the Ashes; I know its a bit heretical, but if they did a version in that style, I'd love it.

The From the Ashes material has the merit of being usable at the table to run a boots-on-the-ground campaign. It has cool stuff like NPCs, adventure ideas, and details of locations.

The original Greyhawk Gazeteer was a world-scale wargame atlas. Pretty useless for running a real campaign starting at 1st level.

DM: "Okay, so we're starting a campaign in a village on the edge of the Vesve Forest"...[reads two paragraphs on the Vesve Forest]. "I guess there'll be elves. And maybe some goblins. Thanks Greyhawk!"

Player: "My guy is from... [looks at map]... Furyondy! What can you tell me about it?"

DM: "Let's see... 3,000 heavy cavalry and 5,000 heavy infantry. So you probably have good armor."

Player: "Thanks Greyhawk!"

Quote from: CRKrueger;792236The last thing we need is Greyhawk being separated into two worlds, Grey and Hawk that have been smashed together and overlap giving us Beholderborn and Illithidkin, with Hextor and Hieroneous killing each other and having their portfolios being stolen by Iuz who, as Hextoroneiuz, is now the God of half of everything, and a transmedia event, the Tedium of Tharizdun, in which Oerth explodes into a series of inter dimensional islands, until we find out the whole thing was just a practical joke by Zagyg, and things will be reset for the next edition.

I laughed hard.  This post is a thing of beauty.

Yeah, if they made Ivid the Undying and Borderlands canon I'd probably have to check out 5e GH.
My body is a temple of elemental evil.

It's nice to see some From The Ashes love here.

It made Greyhawk Wars forgivable.  From the Ashes is as great as Greyhawk Wars is bad.

I have to agree that I didn't find Greyhawk Wars very interesting at all.
