This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So I landed the license for Gor about 18 months ago, before I joined Chronicle City and it's now time to get it ready to go out the door. Only I'm in a financial crunch and to do it justice is going to take a lot more money than I can spare at the moment.

Here's the skinny on the crowdfunding and I will also happily take questions here.

Of course YOU got the Gor license!

Let the madness begin. I am running out to stock up on popcorn and diapers because I'm gonna be peeing myself in hysterics when the SJW/RPG.net crowd hear the baying of the hounds.

I met Gorean Lifestyle people in the IT/high tech world back in the late 90s and early 00s, along with Technopagans. Of course, they were excited to get me to read the books.

I'm not a B/D fan, but I've read the first two and they were fun Conan/John Carter fantasy. I am quite surprised the Gor books never got more publicity.

But why not Kickstarter?

Also, please make sure to post deep in the Gor online communities. There are plenty of Gor fans who would be interested in at last the World Book, if not the game.

Is John Norman alive? If so, can you get a thumbs up from him?

It's already started. I thought I was steeled for it, but yeah... not so much. It all gets a bit wearing and repetitive, even if it is predictable.

They sold in huge numbers and continue to be published, some of the highest selling fantasy ebooks if what I hear is correct. What turned people off (ironically) was the sexual element. We've really gone backwards in terms of sexually libertine attitudes since the 60s. Norman blames feminism in the 70s and 80s - or did in some old interviews, I don't know if he still feels that way.

QuoteBut why not Kickstarter?
Amazon, who operate Kickstarter, are huge tax avoiders in the UK and have pulled adult (or even slightly adult) projects in the past. I prefer IndieGoGo's ethics, they have more payment options and since this is a personal project, I get to make that call. Plus I've used it in the past.

QuoteAlso, please make sure to post deep in the Gor online communities. There are plenty of Gor fans who would be interested in at last the World Book, if not the game.

That's the plan in splitting the books, but I don't really have an 'in' with the Gorean community.

He is, this was approved via his agent and is in cooperation with the current publisher. He's still writing books so far as I know, 33: Rebels of Gor, was out last year.

As much as I like D6, I'm not sure it makes a good introductory system. At least not these days.

WEG had to come up with an alternative version for their Hercules/Xena game because people couldn't add up the dice.

So maybe a simple version of it (as hinted at in your post)
