This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Your 1st Character

The first character I played was a fighter in a very messed up version of D&D that my friend ran from memory. I didn't run into D&D again for another 3 or 4 years and then I think I made a rogue.

My first character was Rollo the Thief, who never made it to 2nd level because he tried to sneak up on the ogre in Keep on the Borderlands and failed. He was followed by his brother Mollo the Magic-user, who inherited Rollo's belongings, sold them, hired a few men-at-arms and had them shoot the ogre dead with crossbows. Mollo eventually rose to 18th level by killing many more ogres -as well as other monsters.

Rollo and Mollo were created in Holmes Edition, but the campaign evolved into AD&D as the DM and players acquired the books.
Jesus Fucking Christ, is this guy honestly that goddamned stupid? He can\'t understand the plot of a Star Wars film? We\'re not talking about "Rashomon" here, for fuck\'s sake. The plot is as linear as they come. If anything, the film tries too hard to fill in all the gaps. This guy must be a flaming retard.  --Mike Wong on Red Letter Moron\'s review of The Phantom Menace

first one was a thief, moldvay basic.  we were going through b2, and he died the first session--the pit trap inside the kobold (i think) lair got him.  went with a magic-user for my second.  :)

My first character was a secret agent in a game of James Bond 007. I had some sort of bionic arm, I think.

Quote from: Ben Rogers;587777My first RPG character was a Rider of Rohan in MERP.

My second was a sniper in Shadowrun.

Both were in 1989.

Prior to that, I'd played a lot of computer games and tactical games (BattleDroids, Ogre, Car Wars, etc.) but those were my start into tabletop RPGs.

I played tactical games first, too. Car Wars, Harpoon, Air Superiority. I'm fuzzy on the years, so I might be all goofed up. also played Battletech before RPGs. My first lance was a Hunchback, Catapult, Locust, and Trebuchet. Looking back now, I cringe at that lance, haha.

shit, look at me. Being all nostalgic.

Not counting Fighting Fantasy books, my first character was not very memorable; an elf (if I recall correctly) that died very quickly.  However, I do remember quite a few of my first 6-12 characters ever, some of which were quite a bit more memorable (as in, I played them for years).

I don't recall the name of my first D&D character, but I remember the name of the first one to make it past third level. An AD&D Monk named Morgan Banecraft (hey, I was a kid, back off my cheesey character name)

I remember the first Robotech RPG character I ever made; a zentraedi named Khyron.

Well, I played Phoebus the Lizardman from Rogues Gallery the very first time I played.  The first character I rolled up was Hiborn the barbarian, a first level fighter, the first time I played him I got paralysed by a ghoul and sat out the rest of the session.  The next time I played him the session was dominated by a massive chase through a city between two PCs, one of whom had been sold into slavery by the other.  Their roof top battle is still one of the most epic things I ever saw in an rpg.

You didn't just use the stats out of the back of the book? The Zentraedi characters always intrigued me more than the RDF guys; especially in Sentinals and Strike Force.

I've been looking at this thread for a while and for the life of me I can't remember the first character I actually sat down and played. I honestly GMed so much when I first got into the hobby that the few times I played in that time are fleeting. I remember that the first time I played under a GM I was a Rogue and I was a male (because I always play males when I'm a player) but that's it. I cannot remember another detail about that character.

No, this was a totally different Khyron, who had to deal with sharing a name with the infamous zentraedi malcontent.
