This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Arrows of Indra: the Cover

Personally I would add some kind of subtle texture in the yellow field.

Nothing that will overwhelm the lettering or logo but just enough to break up the yellow blah.

I would move the RPG pundit credit in to the center  - and the bedrock games in the same place on the back cover.

But that's just me.

I like it a lot.

Maybe it's because I've been playing Borderlands 2 a lot lately, but it looks like something out of a videogame, an awesome videogame, and I mean that in the best possible interpretation.
Yeah, but who gives a fuck? You? Jibba?

Well congrats. No one else gives a shit, so your arguments are a waste of breath.

Yeah, Bedrock Games really doesn't need to be on the front cover.

That might be a good idea, just something to add a slight bit of texture.

I haven't got a problem at all with Bedrock games being in the front.

Looks good. As minor adjustments, I recommend raising the picture to lessen the gap below 'Old School ... ' and moving RPGPundit over beneath the Bedrock logo.

tellius

That looks dead sweet. If I saw this in a game store I would pick up just on the strength on the image on the front alone .. so well done all round :)

That's a great cover - both as art and in terms of setting the scene of what to expect (well assuming the game inside is as Pundit says, obviously).

I think I may have to pick this up :)

Bedrockbrendan

We are going to experiment with a textured background. I think that may look good unless it ends up making the image or logo look less clear or something. But worth a try. Still looking into other fonts for pundit's name. I do not have the one benoist suggested so i will look for something similar. My only concern with a serif is it might not be enough of a contrast from the logo, but i will try several and see how they look.

For pundit's name placement, i tried all the positions people suggested before settling on the one we posted here, and they just didn't look right to me (even tried below the bedrock logo, but imo it just didn't look right and it also implied the book was written by bedrock and pundit----and pundit is the sole author so i dont want to give that impression).

The bedrock logo on the side overlapping the illustration and the yellow background has mostly been well received by people I have show it to. But since a few people have suggested it ought to go on the back I am curious whether others agree or disagree. I placed it there at the suggestion of the artist and personally liked the way it looked (seemed to join the illustration with the rest of the cover and the colors all work together). I future I was thinking of including the logo on the front of all new rpg lines.

We still have a couple of weeks to make final decisions on the cover so all this feedback is helpful (at the end of the day Bedrock and Pundit have to decide what we thinks works best but I am considering every response carefully and really appreciate the constructive advice).

Grymbok

I think a pattern on the yellow would look good - PEG often do this kind of stripe layout on covers and they always use a texture I think (Solomon Kane is likely the best example - http://www.peginc.com/games/the-savage-world-of-solomon-kane/).

Maybe also looking at changing the purple stripes in to a feature/decorative border of some sort, to continue the Indian influence?

RPGPundit

I think just something very soft and very simple, as far as texture goes..

And I do not want this delaying the game's release!

If you're thinking about textures, take a look at the back of Lords of Olympus...

Those are pretty cool. What program did you do them in?

Textures may be difficult at this stage if we want to hit our release date (which we want to), I may have a few days to go over some possibilities, but if they can't be perfected the cover will have to be finalized without them (changing fonts or moving the bedrock logo after this point though is much less of an issue).

I always do covers in Photoshop. Here's a quick sample I threw together for you. I have some time today if you want any help. Just email me.
