This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Are any of you tired of running games?

Vector,

Yes I do feel Group B with "Calvina" and his GF can be dicks. :p :) But I'm trying to ignore that for now in the face of the fact I REALLY want to stop running before 2013 ends. :p :)

Quote from: Nightfall;576628Admittedly, I've not had much of a break. I've been running Carrion Crown Adventure Path Pathfinder RPG pretty much since 2011. It's almost 2013 and I'm BARELY done with it. I feel...fatigued.

Does this happen to you guys?

(I also think the major reason for this fatigue is due to the fact I had run two groups in the same campaign storyline (sort of) and only ONE has managed to muddle its way towards the end. The other keeps breaking down...and I'm about ready to call it quits. :p )

Okay I really need a nap.
I have felt fatigued many times before. I find the act of running a game mentally stimulating and fatiguing. I once ran a 12 hour game (intermittent breaks within) beause two of my friends were bored and needed something to do for the day. I felt exhausted by the end of it and slept for 12 hours after they left. I've never run multiple games with multiple people in a single day but I'd imagine it's about as tiring as gaming for a lon time in one go period.

Well it can be, especially when I run for about 6 hours each Sunday. With each group. Since October 2012.

I get tired from time to time. When it happens I tag out to my friend and he steps in with his game for a while, and vice-versa.

It's worked well for almost 15 years now.
Running: Dogs of WAR - Beer & Pretzels & Bullets
Planning to Run: Godbound or Stars Without Number
Playing: Star Wars D20 Rev.

A lack of moderation doesn\'t mean saying every asshole thing that pops into your head.

I've built up a strong tolerance and a flexible mind over the years. It helps when you have crazy players who test the your limits all the time. "Hmm.. Can I throw the bears into the crowd?" "Why don't we just climb up on the outside of the spooky mansion?' ""Can I make a deal with the evil soul eating sword? I mean I've been using it for like a week and I wanna talk to it for a while. See if we can reach an understanding" "So if I raise all the dead cows I can make my own stampede!" "I'm going to tell the guy to speed up town's destruction. If I'm gonna fake like I'm his boss I wanna be a real hardass"

So far what you said pales in comparison to the fact I had a druid that a) drilled holes (via wild shape as an earth elemental) in the foundation of a building and then b) changed into a FIRE elemental to set the structure on fire underneath.

Well I've only done DMing/GMing for maybe 3 years...but I took a break before this! :p :)

I didn't know we were comparing awesome moments. All of these came from my players. Like the Kender who had an undead dragon that the party killed and he used to fight the dragon's still living spouse on the side of a mountain while the party's paladin was riding it.

I wouldn't call it awesome when I was FULLY prepared to slaughter at least ONE PC. Needless to say, didn't happen.

I may get tired of what I am doing now (and adventure paths are #1 victim of that)

But I'm pretty much always happy to run a game.

I would love to play the sort of game I run, but I don't get that much, so I accept I can't really plan on it.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

Alan/Psion,

I can say at least with the fact the PCs DID have to spend a "hero point" type thing from Carrion Crown, this improved my mood.

Still want this to be over though!

Ghost Whistler

I don't tire of running games. I very much enjoy it.

But only when the players put in as much as I. Unfortunately some games require the GM put more in that perhaps would otherwise be necessary, which ups the ante.

It's a simple process: if the GM is the one person that's doing the most work or putting the most into the process (at the table or beforehand), then you have an imbalance of energy.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

D-503

I'm presently running the Great Pendragon Campaign. At the end of each phase (natural break point) I hang up the GM spurs for a while and someone else runs things for a few weeks. After that I'm raring to go again.

Breaks are important. Nothing wrong with needing them.
I roll to disbelieve.

Nightfall

Well I just got back from our non-existent Serpent Skull game. I say that because only myself and two of my players made it. Now I'm not running this one (Thank Orcus!) However it has led me to consider MAYBE if we want this to grow/continue, I should pause it and just let them do that AND run Jade Regent on alternate Sundays. It would give me a chance to relax..and certainly allow two DMs to strut their stuff instead of just waiting around for non-existent players to not show up.

So...at least now I have some thought involved in pausing. We'll see how it goes after Labor Day weekend/following the 9th of September.
