This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I like mini-reviews

Even when people either don't have the time or inclination to write a fully detailed/structured review, I like to see them post a few paragraphs about a given RPG/supplement. At least it might spark some conversation, or trigger questions, whatever. Might even lead to a full review from one user or another, who knows?

So, I like these mini-reviews. I'll write some too. :)

What do you think? Pro or against mini-reviews?

DKChannelBoredom

I agree. I really enjoyed the recent mini-reviews. I sometime forget to read the long(er) reviews, because they are put in the review-forum, but the smaller ones in the main rpg-area I catch.

So keep 'em coming.

It's like a plague.

I, too, like mini-reviews. Really long reviews tend to make my eyes glaze over. Usually the length of a review makes little to no difference in whether or not I'm interested in a product.

Wish I could do a funny Batman panel, but I lacks the skillz.

Anyhoo, keep the mini-reviews coming!

That, and stop talking about Runequest II; thanks to all that hooplah going on now, I"ve started on the slippery slope by getting the core book and the Vikings supplement just today.
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

I do these in batches on my blog, usually three at a post. I had reserved them to smaller books and supplements, but occasionally handle larger books the same way.

Brevity is the soul of wit, but I prefer in-depth reviews where they are appropriate. They aren't easy to write, of course. A good detailed review is anything but that.

I like mini reviews. If it sounds interesting, questions can be asked to get a better feel. Reading other people's lengthy reviews bore me and I usually just skip right to the conclusion at the end. I imagine most people probably do the same with my reviews as well.

Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

I like mini-reviews, too. I do think they should be posted in the reviews section so they will be easier to find.
