This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Spike;409021Ah... but can he FIND Wasteworld?

I (and others) have pimped Waste World as a great post-apoc RPG and a great 40k RPG several times on RPGsite, but since its out of print, its hard-ish to find.

Its pretty regularly sold on eBay, so if you do set up a Search there, you will probably find about a WW auction each month or two.

More importantly, here's a good fan-site for Waste World

He has the Waste World Lite rules posted so you can see the core system of the game and he has lots of other bitz that will give you a good idea about the setting.

Here's an article by author Bill King about how WW was born.

Here's a detailed review

Yes, Waste World is good stuff. After reading that article by Bill King, though, I wish he had included more templates in the game, or offered a hybrid template/customization system like Talislanta does. As it stands, the system is a bit on the GURPS-y side of complexity with chargen, especially for certain options, and long chargen conflicts with the deadliness of the combat system.

BTW, Noble Knight Games has some Waste World stuff in stock.  I ordered a few things, but they still have some.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

I agree.  But just give the book to the point-buy monkey in your gaming group.  I am sure they will knock out a dozen templates in day or two.
