This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: boulet;408686What CRPG books? Like strategy guides and this kind of stuff?
That's where I saw 4e stuff in PoCo.
Strategy guides, walkthroughs for games like World of Warcraft, Neverwinter Nights, Halo, Fallout and the like.

Quote from: Benoist;408684It's really interesting, in the sense that RPG books are thought-of as spin-offs from computer RPGs, WoW, NWN and the like, now.

No they're not .
 Not at all stores.

What I've noticed at the nearby BORDERS is that they tend to stock the RPG books near the Science fiction and fantasy books - usually the shelf section reserved for SF graphic novels, harbacks, and unusual-sized or 'coffe table' sized SF/Fantasy books. (Like the Art of Star Trek or ART of Lord of the Rings type Books)

there also appear to be at least one or two of their employees who are closet gamers or Sci Fi fans...they often chit-chat with me whjen I'm masking DVD or paperback purchases and a couple of them recognize me from the game store. So definitely a few gamers amongst them.

As for other BORDERS store and JOSEPH-BETH type places - I think the variation of where RPG books are categorized or placed all depends on if that store has workers that know gaming or not.

It's the case at my local B&N, they're between manga and SciFi/Fantasy/Horror books.

Yup. Took me a while to find 'em, too. I noted with some interest that the new shelf clearly visible to the front bank of registers...

Or keep an eye on a subject that is disproportionately prone to shoplifters.

The Barnes & Nobles I've been to in both LA and SF have the RPG stuff next to or among the CRPG guides.   Makes sense to me.   Lots of overlap there.

Oddly, what RPGs they carry is always a mystery.   Rarely the same books twice when I visit the stores.  I haven't seen Pathfinder, but usually 4e, White Wolf, Rifts and then a smattering of mid-tier RPGs.
