This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Settembrini;347684Is there any useful stuff to actually create adventures in time and space? Or just characters?

Chapter 6, "You are not alone", seems a fairly good guide to GMing and running a story. Chapter 7, "The Oncoming Storm" is about adventure/story/campaign creation and also seems fairly good.

Chapter 4, "A big ball of timey-wimey stuff" is about time travel, time lords, and the TARDIS. It includes stuff on changing time, fixed points, the blinovitch limitation effect, etc. There are a couple of pages on GMing time travel, and mention of more detail to come in a future supplement ...

Okay, I assume there is an adventure? Are more modules forthcoming?

1) There is a seperate 32-page adventure book in the box. It contains:

Arrowdown : 'This cool story is set on Earth and can be played with the Doctor and Companions, or just normal investigators, looking into the strange goings on in a seaside town in (sic) the Yorkshire coast. Just what is going on at the fun fair? Why are the boats in the harbour a little strange? What is going on at Monroe's and just what is that tolling bell?' - twelve pages.

Judoom! : 'This shorter adventure is initially designed for the Doctor and Martha, though it can be played with any combination of characters with access to a ship. The characters find themselves aboard a Judoon ship in trouble, and the characters must help.' - 6 page.

The remaining pages are filled with story seeds, each with a few descriptive paragraphs, some suggested antagonists and action scenes, problems, and how the adventure may be continued/expanded upon. There are about 23 of them, with three of them tied together into a little mini trilogy.

2) Dunno. There are supplements planned, but I don't know which (if any) might be modules, or have adventures enclosed.

If i had to guess i'd say the monster boxset may contain some more seeds and maybe an adventure or 2 connected to the stuff in the boxset(maybe something involving the master or darleks) of course this is just a guess based on it being a boxset.

Just got the PDF of the game today and I want to say how put out I am that the RPGPundit got mentioned by name (well, handle anyway) and I DID NOT!!

Seriously, it looks great! The books are gorgeous, the writing highly enjoyable. They added some Traits and such but everything I liked about the game from the playtest is intact and then some!

And...they just announced for April: "Defending the Earth: UNIT". And the box picture features a classic Cyberman...and The Brigadier!

Since you mention it, could you define the term "bring the awesome"? It seems to be an RPGNet term, and I've asked what exactly it's supposed to mean to no avail there before. I find that it is largely brought up in defense of storygaming-esque things like "story points", but I'd appreciate a more precise understanding if there is one to be had.

Really? Well, darn, I didn't realize I was using a coded term :)

I just use it in the sense of 'gives the other players an opportunity to do spectacular and awesome things'.

Hmmm...any "Actual Play," threads for this thing yet?

I'm interested as I think this could be the one game to actually appeal to everyone I know (a fact that I find interesting itself).
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

I was joking, you know :)

I do think you made some very important points during the playtest and some of them they took, hence the existence of "archetype" characters to simplify creation for the newbies. So yes, you deserved to be up there.

And now I have two games with your name in them :)

I see. Nothing special, then. I'm just not a fan of it due to my love of grammar, but I hardly have the power to jump through the screen and strangle you if you use it.
