This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Drohem

Fantasy is the tops for me.

Mechnomancer

I couldn't vote because modern isn't listed.

I love modern day adventures.  From the really wierd x-files ish to an evening at the GRINDHOUSE!  Even then a simple campaign of bikers in a turf war is always fun.

Quote from: brettmb;321275I'm just so damned sick of fantasy.
I can't say I'm sick of it, because it was never my cuppa.

But I do wish more gamers weren't so enamoured of it.
On weird fantasy: "The Otus/Elmore rule: When adding something new to the campaign, try and imagine how Erol Otus would depict it. If you can, that\'s far enough...it\'s a good idea. If you can picture a Larry Elmore version...it\'s far too mundane and boring, excise immediately." - Kellri, K&K Alehouse

I have a campaign wiki! Check it out!

Why did you publish a fantasy RPG (Iron Gauntlets) then? Please don't think I'm trying to be a smartass here, I'm genuinely curious.

1. That was quite a few years back.

2. Fantasy sells well since it is the most popular genre.

3. I go through cycles of what interests me. I don't mind fantasy in small doses, but the constant discussion of fantasy everywhere I go really wears me down. If I have a spark of an idea, I pursue it.

I'm with Brett - I can take fantasy in small doses. I love FtA! and Iron Gauntlets, but even them I can't run often. I ran D&D for twenty years, and my fantasy glands were entirely burned out.

RockViper

I have always found it easier to game in a Fantasy setting, it seems to be easier to get into a fantasy mindset rather than sci-fi for my group.

I ran D&D for a long, long time, too. I should be burned out on fantasy as well. I think in my case the reason I haven't is because I don't read or watch much fantasy outside of game stuff. I think if I did, I might've been long done with fantasy RPGs.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

I couldn't even watch Lord of the Rings.

Awesome party, dude. What class is the unicorn?
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.
