This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

No great surprise there, really.

With the Psionic power source and all that jazz coming down the corp's tubes, it makes sense. :)
I can see Dark Sun actually getting some synergy with 4e. That could work.

mhensley

4e rules actually make more sense with Dark Sun as opposed to generic D&D as everyone started out with super powers (psionics) anyway.  Oh, and they had better stats and started out at 3rd level.  Sounds just like 4e.

THIS is very interesting, isn't it? Source.

Interesting, though I'll stick to using the original Dark Sun setting material converted to Savage Worlds

WAR has his act together, when it´s about making large things look small.

Perspective and Landscapes are definitely NOT his strengths...

It's a nice cover though. Seriously.

One last thing: According to a twitter feed posted on RPG.net, the state of the setting is going to be the _original_ boxed set, not the revised box set. Few other statements could have filled this Dark Sun fan's heart with so much hope.

Back in the day I never grokked Dark Sun as a D&D saying.  I would consider playing a 4e Dark Sun game.  I'm not sure why I'm saying that, but it seems intuitively like a good match.

Forgotten Realms had already shoehorned in a lot of the actual 4e content during the 3e era (tieflings, genasi and devas/aasimar as PCs, for example). The poor decision they made was to radically change it with the Spellplague, something they didn't need to do.
