This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[4e] Macroless Power Database for use with character sheet

On the attacks tab there's a drop down under each label. Select the type of weapon in it. In the box under that you can give the weapon a name if you want. Add a magic item bonus (if any) and select the attribute used. This should fill out the Base Attack Bonus for that weapon, and also calculate the damage for a basic attack if you're adding a melee, ranged, or off-hand weapon.

The slots for Implement, Melee, Ranged, and Off Hand will all be used to calculate the bonuses for powers. Weapon 5 is for if you've got anything else you want to have show up on the sheet, but don't use frequently, like a backup weapon.

If you don't use one of the options, like fighters who ignore Implements, you can leave that column blank. Anything you put in Power 1, 2, or 3 will show up on the front page of the character sheet.

Does that help? I can see about uploading a screenshot if it'll be useful.

There was some trouble with the old version being cached by some browsers because I didn't change the file name. The link above should now get the most recent version, or it can be found here.

Looks nice. As soon as I get a chance to read the rules I'll play around with it.

Overall

This is the most comprehensive character creation tool I've encountered for 4th edition.  You've managed to consider and package everything that might concern a player.  Congratulations on a great project.  This is leaps and bounds beyond the next best option.

Criticism

I must also say, though, that this sheet is extremely complicated to update.  Perhaps I need more familiarity with its inner workings, but I found the use of intra-sheet tables for selection list population frustrating and redundant.  The data groups for selection lists are a loosely organized mess hidden in a string of columns that have been smushed together on the relevant pages.  Some of these lists are redundant and could be fashioned using references to information in the hidden sheets.  Would this impact the speed of the spreadsheet to a fault?

My criticisms aren't entirely valid due the nature of this project.  The spreadsheet isn't intended for people to snoop around in.  This is an end product and isn't really made for "hacking" by do-it-yourselfers.  My comments here are geared more toward the development side.  I don't know if this is an open project or not, but if it is then it begs some serious clean-up.  Streamlining will reduce future time spent on updates and might even make the spreadsheet more internally efficient.

edit:  I was using ver 3.4

Final Note

Thanks for a great project.  You managed to produce an all-encompassing character creation tool and that really is a feat all its own.  I look forward to your future work and will gladly recommend this around the net.

Glad you like it, and I agree completely on the troublesome nature of the data storage. I inherited that from a previous sheet (the Wiesbaden sheet in the first post). That team has gone on to make a more customizable version of the spreadsheet, though it doesn't have the power database in it.

Given the nature of the Character Database from WotC, and the speed at which they release material that would have to be updated, all of my development on this sheet has ceased.
