This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Unhallowed Metropolis

I ordered this with CthulhuTech from Amazon. It took freaking forever, but finally arrived. I have to say, I'm not that thrilled thus far.

First, a note to the publisher. Dear small press publisher: Don't jerk us around! It's not just the shipping from Amazon that took forever. I've been waiting to get my hands on this game for a long, long time. Now my attitude toward it is annoyance mixed with high expectations. Let's hope it can live up to them. Next time, print it in the US.

The cover is awesome. The logo is awesome. The binding, etc., seems sound. But there's something about the interior layout which doesn't work for me. I'm not a huge fan of the faux parchment look to begin with, but this seems muddy. Crowded.

Anyway, hopefully, the game itself will be worth the wait.

Hey, give us a write up when you have read more. I'm still waiting for my copy. I'm more interested in the setting than the system but more info on both would be appreciated.

Will do. I plan to read it right after I finish with the latest Dresden novel.

Hey, Seanchai!

You spoke to me, so here I am.  :)

In regards to your understandable crankiness, well, I can only tell you that I sent them books only a few days after the shipment got in; I did my bit, but in my experience, Amazon does things on its own schedule. We're not trying to jerk anybody around, not at all.

Now, I can't crank too hard at Amazon, given that I only got out from under my own backlog, which was two weeks deep! But it's all caught up now, and there's a nice sale still going on for a few more days on the Eos Press Online Store!

Finally, I hope you do fully enjoy the book in all ways - and if you want to tell the creators personally, they do appear and respond on the Unhallowed Metropolis Forum!

David R - I'm completely caught up and everybody's orders are coming through, now... so hope you get your copy soon!

Sure. But it's not just Amazon.

You seem like a good guy, but you're really shooting yourself in the foot by printing overseas. I heard about Weapon of the Gods, bought Weapon of the Gods, and read it, but literally what I remember right now about Weapon of the Gods is how late it was, people bitching about how late it was, etc..

It seems like you have some cool properties that are getting good buzz, but that's not enough - we have to actually be able to purchase them. Buzz dies. Enthusiasm fades. Consumer trust and loyalty is worth what it takes to earn and keep it.

Sorry, I'm working my way through the setting chapters now. I'll post about the rules when I get to 'em.
