This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

DRUDGE REport : Moder times RPG campaign and scenario inspiration possibilities.....

Because of the Contemporary or Modern Day threads I've been thinking about this stuff. In one of the threads Pundit said NO Sci-Fi, supernatural or monsters and stuff. However I think we should allow nutjobs who think such things are real to be major adversaries or NPC opponents in such a campaign (One major "religion" in our modern world believes these weird things about aliens....that kind of thing)

Then I was browsing at the DRUDGE Report and I noticed that you could change his front page into a dice chart pretty easily for suggesting whacked out conspiracy plots for RPGS.

Take a look , this is the current Drudge Report page as I post this:

http://www.drudgereport.com/

Matt Drudge tends to update that 2 or 3 times a day.

Take a 6 sider , assign the numbers to the columns. 1-2, is the first column, 3-4 is the middle column, 5-6 is the third column.

Then figure out the average number of headlines he has highlighted for each column. Use that as your second dice roll number.

Roll twice to get weird or odd combinations.

So ...I printed up a reference copy at 12:45pm my time zone.

My duce rolled a 5 on the first six sider, thats column 3. I then roll a 3 on 2 d6, which means I got the headline: Wisconsin nears all-time snow for December...

SECOND ROLL : I rolled a 1 for the column. Then I eolled 2d6 and get a 7. That means my second headline is : Iraq says most of Al-Queda network destroyed...

SO, then as a GM or reff trying to make up a modern day adventure Iwould then  try to connect those 2 headlines and make a conspiracy or RPG plot out of both. Would be even weirder if we used the Coast-to-Coast wenbsite - but Pundit did say No Aliens and such.

Very useful idea.  Though I must admit that the Drudge Report is so tame in comparison to others.  Here are some of the sites I have used for inspiration in modern (and other) settings.

The above site is very useful for all different types of odd beliefs.

Check this one only if you have a strong stomach, these people are really worrisome.  Imagine characters running across the regular posters!
