This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm new here.

I guess this is where this goes...

I'm new to the forums... I stumbled across the "7-yearold campaign" story, while looking for quick tips on how to develope my own campaign, and I immediately took to the site.

I've been playing for thirteen years, starting with Hero Quest, moving to classic D&D, then first, second, third, and three point five. (I think I'm the only person that I know that can still calculate THAC0!).  Also, I've played TONS of White Wolf games, and I've LARPed quite a bit.  (I ran, for about a year, the most successful old World of Darkness LARP in Salt Lake City... so successful that the Camerilla sent spies to see what I was doing different. (Then, their rules-lawyer, 'it must be by the novels' attitude poisoned my game, and it crashed and burned.)).

I've tried DMing a few times, other than the larp, and though my brain works great in a world of darkness setting, I've never ran a good D&D game.

Recently, I played through the old Black Isle/Interplay/Bioware games Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and I've started Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape: Torment.  Getting back into a D&D mindset, I've decided I want to develop an epic campaign, having the general outline figured out before I ever bring it to my group (don't worry, I know that players will always throw a wrench in the gears, and I plan to go with that.)  That's what lead me here, as I mentioned above.

In the meantime, I play guitar in a reggae band, work at the local university, I'm married, and have a 2 yearold son named Ninja (that's not a joke, nor has it been an issue in finding friends).

So... I'm new here. :)

welcome aboard!  it can get kind of rough around here sometimes, but the honesty is refreshing.  folks call you out on b.s. statements and call 'em like they see 'em.

have fun and throw a post or two into another area!  it's easy!

Yep - we cuss and sling poo like rabid monkeys at the zoo, so don't be afraid to speak your mind. You'll be called everything but a Child of God by those who disagree with you, but that's normal 'round here.

SLC, eh? Nifty - been here about 3 years myself. Nice town.

Oh, yeah?  I've been here for about 13, but only the last little bit has been by choice.  I really dig it here.

Do you have a gaming group?

Werekoala

Not locally. I "telecommute" with my old group back in Texas on Saturday nights.

God, the Cam is just full of slimy fuckers isn't it?  We had one of those SOBs cause a near mutiny in one of my LARPs.

I wish I was so lucky... they actually caused a full out mutany, in mine.

Then I became a cammie, because it was the only LARP going on in town, and none of my players trusted LARP anymore.

Do you like Bagels??

 How about bacon?
 Are you fond of bacon?

If you answer yes to either of the above you'll probably fit in here just fine.

I'm not huge on bacon... Sorry.  I think it's a good addition to any sandwich, but not great by itself.

Bagels, however, are my lifebread.

And, thanks. :)
