This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: jrientsI flipped through the Dungeon Survival Guide yesterday at the local game store.  It looked like the worst official D&D product I had seen since the 2e days.

That's too bad. I actually liked the concept. I didn't really give a shit about game stats in it - I actually thought it'd be cool without them. What I thought - or rather, hoped - it would be was a book that gave a narrative account of the various classic dungeons of D&D, presented in such a way that someone who wasn't a gamer could pick it up, read it, and say "cool." Sort of like those old Terran Trade Authority books, except for a fantasy world. I'd want it to be a bit more substantial than what's been described in this thread, though. I think D&D has a rich history to mine for such products, stuff that doesn't have to have a ream of goddamned rules that will be nonsensical to someone who doesn't play. I'd want it to be the kind of book anyone could put on their bookshelf and years later someone leafs through it and gets their mind blown.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

Brilliant, WOTC has the fans/suckers pay the cost of 4e "previews".

Only with D&D baby.

WOTC, I salute you.

Pundt, it was a theRPGsite in-Joke, making fun of "to rain on someone´s parade" where only "to rein in a parade" makes any sense.
