This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Gamma World 4: How trivial to houserule?

So, I'm not sure, but it seems like one could houserule GW4's skill system to a more sane, d20-esque skill system, by just making it d20+attr+skill, and adding about 10 points to the default difficulties.

Admittedly, it's been a few months since a gave the game a thorough read, so I may be missing something.  In fact, IIRC, there was some things that came up when I was reading, but I can't for the life of me think of what they were.  Maybe I'll give it another read through during my upcoming downtime (I've got a move today, and I won't have internet for a while).

Yeah I think it be pretty simple. You basically just divide by 5 for the common skills (Read/Write, Climb and Swim) and their class skills you'd treat as normal but add 10 to the difficulties.  (Then they'd be attribute mod+skill score+1d20 beat target number)

That makes Easy 10 and Nearly Impossible 25 (you might buff the far end up a bit, but that's up to you)
