This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

GOD RULES: Epic & Immortal Gaming for 5th Edition

Despite what you may have heard from WoTC, God still Rules in 5e D&D - and my friend Craig has just launched his truly EPIC Kickstarter for Epic & Immortal level play in 5e & similar systems:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/godrules5e/god-rules-players-guide-for-5e

This book is basically a love-letter to all the Immortal-themed RPG books I grew up reading over the past 40+ years and I only hope this book inspires people the way those legendary titles inspired me and countless others. I couldn't help but pay homage to some of these great book covers in the Double-page Art resting between each chapter, each with a "What's that over there" twist.

Pick up a copy the way Hercules picks up a Tarrasque!

The art you show looks great, but the cover art (red scythe guy) on the kickstarter page looks like shit. Thankfully, most of the other art on that page looks good.

I certainly like the Legends & Lore homage a lot better, Hercules & the Tarrasque is fun too. Dual wielding scythes just looks wrong to me. :D

Thanks for posting the Ad S'mon.

Hey there HappyDaze!

Really!? I'm curious why you don't like it? The image itself? The art style? The Colours?

I was going for a sort of Heavy Metal-Warhammer-esque vibe with the God Reaper standing atop the severed head of Cthulhu - the runes on the scythes read 'Who's Next!" - in effect he's throwing down the gauntlet to challengers...epic tier players.

The defeated Cthulhu hints these rules are not limited to the normal Immortal "levels" but take things beyond that.

The background was an attempt of something akin to the Far Realm. The green contrasting well with the red-energy scythes.

The improbably use of two scythes signifies the unnatural and thus epic nature of the warrior - in the same way massive swords in Anime/Manga like Berserk do.

Anyway, sorry you don't like it. I am considering a Kickstarter exclusive Cover B using the Legends & Lore homage - but I don't like the idea of using an homage for the main cover.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm at least relieved you like all the other art.

I really like your Cover B (the kickstarter one).

The cover A doesn't appeal to me for a variety of reasons. The color mix and style, mabe even the whole "mood" of it just feels bad to me. Regardless, it's just my opinion, and I'm not going to just judge your book by the cover.

I'm going to make that a Kickstarter Exclusive (as the previous image noted).

It was meant to have a sinister mood with its 'villain on villain' vignette and a 'Deathdealer' style central character, though I didn't realize that might put some off - I thought they'd be more "Wow! This guy beat Cthulhu - I want to know more".

I appreciate the reply.

Once again, thanks for the feedback. I guess you cannot please all the people all of the time.
