This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: SHARK on April 19, 2025, 04:11:29 AMGreetings!

My friend, you certainly have my sympathies if you are a customer of this Dolmenwood.

Having said that, well, you know what I generally feel about smarmy, Liberal, Woke companies that like doing business with Commie China, and who oppose President Donald Trump, and MAGA.

Yes, that's right. It involves heavy boots, hammers, and if available, an absolute storm of NAPALM.

Semper Fidelis,

SHARK

Those knuckleheads are down in your neck of the woods, despite their products always being shipped from the east coast.

Edit: don't napalm them, yet I would stop in to see the operation.

Jag är inte en människa. Det här är bara en dröm, och snart vaknar jag.

Running: Barbarians of Legend + Black Sword Hack, OSE
Playing: Shadowdark

I backed this one.

I'm not especially up in arms about the delay.

I don't doubt the tariffs are a problem for Exalted Funeral. They're not the whole story, given that this kickstarter is already many months late. But that's kickstarter. I've seen very few that I backed deliver by the estimated fulfillment date. This is far from the worst I've seen.

The biggest problem really are the stretch goals for these big, over-elaborate projects. If everything is not already written or if near-tchotchkes (like minis, dice, dice bags -- pretty much anything other than books) are on the table, then there will almost certainly be substantial delay.

Situation normal: all fouled up.

Dolmenwood looked great when it first started. I listened to the live play of this setting by 3D6 Down Yhe Line and was really impressed by the setting.

Then a few months in, the sensitivity readers had their way with the product and it became a complete letdown.

This is why my stance is "Wait-and-see" when it comes to new stuff.

Yeah, I was really interested in a prehistoric 5e supplement (despite not being interested in 5e in general) called Born from Ice and thought the free quickstart they released during the kickstarter had some great ideas.   The latest update has me worried though...

"I'm excited to announce that Riley Kirkham has joined the project as our Editor and Sensitivity Reader!

Riley (they/them) is a non-binary, queer, disabled freelance editor, sensitivity reader, and history and mythology consultant from the UK, with education in prehistoric archaeology and human evolution, and various other historical periods."

Are they worried about culturally appropriating from neanderthals?   Will current day stone age hunter gatherers be offended at their portrayal in game?

It's there to make sure everyone knows that stone age Europeans were black and had matriarchal, peace-loving, egalitarian communities where they lived in perfect harmony with nature.

Here's what this really says:

"they're a gay crippled person who has read some books on the book we're producing. they tick all the boxes for DEI and this person has no actual degree in any of the subjects the game book is based upon."

2. I've been deployed to Iraq, so your tough guy act is boring.

IF any of them watched Quest For Fire, they'd lose their shit.

That includes Ron Pearlman given how stupidly TDS addled he's become in his old age... and he starred in it!

I'm more concerned about making sure that the game's historical hobbits, Homo Floresiensis, have meaningful in game options and mechanics for all 47 gender expressions.

That makes it a day gay one purchase for they / them.
