This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Fun but simple tabletop war games.

But, that got me thinking.  Is there a medieval equivalent game?

The only one that I'm aware of is "Warlords of Europe," which you already know about.  I have a copy and it is an excellent game.  I have no idea why it's out of print -- given the high prices that the originals command, it seems like  a reprint would sell well.  If you're willing to part with $150 -$200 for a medieval equivalent of Axis & Allies, do it.  IMO it's even better than A & A.
I know how the illegals feel. I'm an alcoholic & they keep setting up these random DUI checkpoints. You have no idea what a chilling effect this has had on the alcoholic community. I know people who are too terrified to even drink & drive anymore. I am literally shaking... mostly in my hands...

I have both of these games (2x Silo 14).  Sadly, Raid on Iran is Steve Jackson Games.  Silo 14, though, is a wild one.  It's like a Dr. Strangelove kind of scenario, and it was made locally here, about a half hour away from my hometown island in Southern NJ.

Yes, of course I realise that Raid on Iran was made by Jackson. He's created some greatness in his time, my favourite being GURPS.

If I had to politically agree with creators I would have about 10 CDs, LDs, comics and games on my shelf instead of thousands.

Don't do the leftist thing of burning things made by people you don't agree with, it's retarded.

Raid on Iran is a very fun neat little game, especially if you're interested in Eagle Claw. The release date is real interesting too, very close to the date of the actual mission..makes you wonder if Jackson had contacts..SJG being raided by the FBI for a GURPS supplement also adds to his previous legitness and coolness.

Silo14 is really cool. I got it from Noble Knight about a year back and played it with a buddy. Made a whole backstory for it that fed into my game world. The random enemy encounter mechanism is neat.

It's cool that Centurion Games was near you.

I agree with you 100%.  I did not throw out my SJ Games games like Ogre and Car Wars and stuff, over his political extremism.  It doesn't change a game's playability.  I can still lay these games that I already paid for in the past.  Throwing them out would only make me waste my own money.  But if anyone is interested in buying it, go on the secondary market to avoid funding their causes.

The fact that the CIA raid happened makes SJ's insistance toward an intrusive authoritarian government, supporting a candidate in a regime with a history of this kind of criminal behavior against innocent U.S. citizens, all the more bewildering.

And, yes, I own Raid on Iran from before, and it's a neat game.
