This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

That's unfortunate, BoH has been a decent source of large amounts of reading since Humble Bundle went sideways a few years back. I've always been wary of the charities featured, but this one is pretty bad.

we need a new classification of red for them

What did you see other than the featuring of "The Center for Constitutional Rights", which is a doublespeak name if I've ever heard one. I'm not sure if I'm on board with fully not supporting BoH, but certainly watching which charities any particular bundle goes to.

And yes, I'me definetly biased towards BoH because I've gotten some good things from them.

I've bought quite a few bundles over the years - they're great value for money. But having spotted this on my weekly trip to see what the latest bundle is, I suspect that's my last one.

Not unfair.

Quote from: Cathode Ray on February 06, 2025, 12:43:03 PMNow sure about CGI, but an owner or its employees just having leftist views, or expressing them isn't what makes a company woke.  A company is woke if it does one or more of the following:

- infuses propaganda into their products (Coyote & Crow)
- censors/discriminates in the name of DEI (D&D/Wizards)
- attacks people who think differently (Cards against Humanity)
- promotes real-life violence against people for their beliefs (Comrades), or
- Donates profits to woke causes (Bundle of holding)

I agree with you to some extent, though imo. any level of female empowerement is woke.

Oxford Dictionary claims the following;

woke
[wəʊk]

adjective
derogatory

"alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination"

Thus, my personal logic says, if you publish stuff which "has" to include egalitarianism, to cater
to beta male and/or simp inclinations, it is SJW-behavior, whether it is small or large. Just like
DEFCON has levels, this is not DEFCON level 5 anymore, no matter how you twist it.

Sure, currently it is miniscule compared to Dungeons and Degenerates etc. though these
trends usually tend to scale up, not down, as we have seen in the recent history.
Therefore, being aware of the situation and letting others know about it makes sense IMO.

"alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination" is a self-serving definition. Are right-wingers complaining about racism under DEI woke? According to that definition they are, but nobody, left or right, calls them that. Is somebody who claims that men can get pregnant woke? Yes, but they're not dealing with social justice or discrimination, just moaning about nature.

Obviously it always is self-serving, regardless from who´s viewpoint we are looking at it. By following any other logic, it would mean that topics such as these should not exist for someone always get pissed off, boohoo. I really could not care less about leftard needs and wants tbh. You are not contributing to this conversation so why comment on it?

I'd also point out that, post 2016 when the world psyche broke, the companies/organizations responsible for things like definitions have been infiltrated or at least exposed (assuming they were just hiding in plain sight) by the same ideological extremists as every other groups.  What one source defines as "woke" isn't necessarily what is was considered nor will be considered.   You see it almost instantly on supposedly neutral sites like wikipedia but also on dictionary sites as well when a previously mundane word becomes a culture war focal point.   I'm not even talking about years long issues like adding extra ideological meanings to the definition of words that have had concrete definitions for centuries like "women" but even simply overnight previously congruous sites changing terms to fit the daily "spin" of a political administration like the definition of "recession" two years ago suddenly going from almost universally agreed upon two quarters in a row determination to "occassionally" or "sometimes" two quarters in a row when it doesn't look good for the powers that be.

TL; DR: Even dictionaries post 2016 can't be trusted without verification.   :(

Well said, it really seems like everything went to shit overnight. Likely exactly as you said, the element
was already there, they just suddenly had to courage to be vocal about their retarded mentality.

Wouldn't really call anti-semitism "woke" lol, not to be confused with the lefty's anti-zionism, they're 2 different things.

Quote from: Cathode Ray on February 05, 2025, 12:08:05 PMI noticed during my posting suspension that people were posting fringe left-wing politics in non-political forums, a violation of the policy (they took the political forums down since pro-freedom people were also able to make points that can be seen).  They were real violators, and yet not being banned.  Anyway, Octavius, Michael M whoever is his real name, said, "reporting violations is also a violation" (exact quote), and "I decide if a topic is political," (It was very political), and inexplicably banned me for life.

Did I read that correctly? If you report rules violations using the report feature of the forum that's a rule violation and you get banned, not them? Now that is some mind-bending logic - the kind that would be used in a movie to break a robot. Remove the report feature then, if it can't be used as is without getting disciplinary action yourself.

Thank you for this topic. I guess I didn't realize there were even this many companies making RPGs.

Seeing what all these companies have gotten up to the last decade or so makes me even more glad that my games of choice are only available on the used market.

Pretty much BGG in a nutshell. Quote the main admin "Freedom of speech is not one of your rights here."

This new wave of moral busybodies started well before 2016. 2010 was the first signs and its by 2015-16 that its gained momentum and power.

Next wave is 2030.

2016 is when they really lost it and dropped the mask though.
