This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

"I am certain, however, that nothing has done so much to destroy the juridical safeguards of individual freedom as the striving after this mirage of social justice."― Friedrich Hayek
Another former RPGnet member permanently banned for calling out the staff there on their abdication of their responsibilities as moderators and admins and their abject surrender to the whims of the shrillest and most self-righteous members of the community.

Quote from: erc1971 on January 24, 2025, 12:46:35 AMI hear ya.  Sadly the OP on the chat chain he had replied on deleted his post...along with all the replies to it.  So if what I posted is not enough for you, that's cool, I get it.

This?

This was the post that started it all.  A conversation did take place in the chat below it were Seth spelled it out in very plain language what he really meant.  Sadly, that chat chain was becoming pretty heated and the OP deleted it, thus all those posts no longer exist.

The fact this was posted on bluesky tells me all I need to know about the intent of the post.

It was fun while it lasted Seth.

Isn't it amazing how in such a short time, Bluesky became shorthand for "crazy far left activist"?

I looked at his account on X and he didnt post it there. He is still posting links to his video uploads however.

So, yeah. He probably felt safe to let his guard down over there.

He did post it to Facebook as well.  There is where I ran across it, and where the deleted conversation he joined in on took place.  He was set off by the release of those involved in J6.

Lo? What oes this mean? I, too, have an account on Bluesky. I have the tab open near the tab of the English Edition of Rodong Sinmun, which is the party organ of Republic of North Korea.

While I recognise that Rodong Sinmun is more open to criticism and debate than Bluesky, to me "a-political" means "a-political.". Banning a place "because" is sheer woke-think.

I never posted on Bluesky. I maintain an account on Bluesky because I enjoy monitoring events, both positive and negative. Is the groupthink on Bluesky off scale? Yes, it is. Is Seth post an example of this groupthink? No.

On the Big Purple you can be banned for simply having posted here. And you want to do the same?? Get a grip.
For every idiot who denounces Ayn Rand as "intellectualism" there is an excellent DM who creates a "Bioshock" adventure.

I said nothing about banning. He can say what he wants where he wants to. I OTOH can choose if I want to continue to listen to him.

Bluesky is the same as having pronouns and various flag icons in the bio.

We all know the deal. Bluesky is where all the Antifa radicals went because they're butthurt they lost control of Twitter and you can say things like, "There are no trans women, only mentally ill men," without being banned. Everyone on Bluesky is there for that exact reason. You being interested in North Korea doesn't change that. Your attempt to invoke boaf sidez doesn't change that.

Bluesky is the new Tumblr. It's the mental ward of the internet. We all know this. Except, maybe, people with Bluesky accounts. You can't expect crazy people to know they're crazy.

"Totalitarianism" means, among other things, "Don't think with your head. Delegate your thoughts to the Idea."

I don't care if someone posts on Bluesky. I care about what is posted. Was Steth's post objectionable in any way? No. That's enough for me.

"If someone posts on Bluesky I choose to...!" is a false choice because you actually delegate your judgment to an Idea: "Bluesky = Evil." Call it "anti-woke groupthink," if you want. Amen for that. Personally, I'll still think and judge with my head.

I have a finite amount of time in my life; if I can use shortcuts to eliminate retards, I will. Even if that means I am possibly passing up on the 1 out of a 100 non-retards who use that platform.
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

It's like Sam Harris said ~10 years ago, in numerous venues (and not always citing the same issues) - abortion, gun control, and immigration have nothing to do with one another. Yet somehow, if I know your opinion on just one of those, I can predict your opinion on the other two with 80% accuracy. It doesn't make any sense, but it's true nonetheless.

The same applies to Bluesky. If I know you post on Bluesky, I can accurately predict that you're a far left radical. It really is that simple. We know who went to Bluesky, they told us. We know why they went to Bluesky, they told us.
