This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Would you not participate in an RPG Kickstarter if made in China?

I have participated in two kickstarters. So I usually don't back a kickstarter anyway.
I'd like to avoid giving the CCP any money, but as pointed out in the thread, it's nearly impossible.
So for me it's more that I don't do kickstarters. The China angle is a distant second thought.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

I've gotten a number of books over the years from DTRPG and Lulu and, while they aren't as polished as D&D books, they get the job done in terms of enjoying them. Get Lulu books during one of their sales especially, and the pricing can be reasonable.

I don't back any crowdfunding projects from outside Europe, not least due to shipping costs and customs.

The Pundit dislikes blind links.  Might I suggest you edit that post to give some context as to what we are clicking on?

I'm cautious with what Kickstarters I back (and at what levels), but I've never been disappointed. Most recently, I backed the BattleTech Mercenaries (at Battalion level) and I got everything promised on-time and they even threw in a few extras. The only complaint I had with this one was that the S & H charges tend to be a bit high, and I've seen this on other Kickstarters too, which is why I often only choose the "digital only" options and later buy physical copies if I like what I've already seen.

I buy a few RPGs each year but, a good number of them are from Kickstarters. I suspect at least some potential backers have strong enough feelings about China that, if they knew for certain that a game was going to be made in China, they might not participate in it. Or, they may be more inclined to participate if manufacturing wasn't in China. I have noticed a few that manufacture locally (in their own country) or in some others where their manufacturing dollars get a bit more (like manufacturing in Poland).

What do you think?

No, I wouldn't support anything made in China. It would essentially be the same as buying from Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia or (insert totalitarian dictatorship prone to genocide of your choice).
