This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

It is still on the wayback machine so you can reference who we can stop supporting.

Took a gander at the two most recent Cyberpunk adventure books by R. Talsorian games.  Pronouns and transgenders all over the place. In addition I saw an interview with Mike Pondsmith trashing people who thought differently than him (though sadly I didn't think to copy the link at the time).

Not really an RPG company but it's an old game with role-playing elements from the original TSR days. There's a new edition of Divine Right out that was a limited-run Kickstarter, done with a team led by one "J McCrackan." They had originally come to an agreement with Glenn Rahman, the original designer, but then dragged their feet on the project for years. Rahman had encountered this sort of thing before, so finally got fed up and went with Theodore Beale aka "Vox Day" as a publisher (apparently he writes and publishes science fiction books). The woke community consider this writer to be a "Nazi" and were furious about Rahman dumping them, so they spread the idea that Rahman was a Nazi too in woke circles, and vowed to "cancel" any attempt to publish the game.

Theodore Beale likewise dragged his feet, but the kick in the pants got McCrackan and his team moving, so they eventually made nice with Rahman and published through Pungo Games with $114,609 in funding. This version looks pretty good and contained a new Scarlet Empire add-on (it also sold out).

I used to follow this group through an old Hotmail account. They seemed benign at the time, but when the Beale flap came up they went super woke. I got called a racist and a fascist for over and hour and was finally kicked out of the group for claiming that Rahman wasn't a Nazi, then got perma-banned from BoardGameGeek when I brought the issue up in their forum. Just giving the folks here fair warning.

He's more a Fascist than a Nazi, I'd say. :D

Yeah the CP:R core book is fine but the supplements go very Woke. The ACAB stuff I find particularly annoying. Something I find indicative: they took a minor trans mtf NPC from CP2020 Tales From the Forlorn Hope, who is supposed to be indistinguishable from a real woman (hardly difficult with Cyberpunk tech), put them everywhere and made them into a husky broad shouldered Current Year AGP-Narcissist trans type. I guess Trans doesn't count unless everyone knows you're Trans.

Does anyone know of any generic system that belongs on the green list?

My go-to generic RPG system has always been Masterbook
there is also a Masterbook EZ system that is scaled-down

There were a bunch of games which used it (Indiana Jones, Necroscope, World of Aden, etc.) and you can easily build your own. I thought about using the rules for a Arcanum game (the old video game, which was awesome)

I didn't know about that version. Thanks!

Yeah Daggerheart is pretty much what I expected:

Nearly all of the shown classes are depicted female and whatever image isn't either looks gay or is some nonhuman.
Pronouns are of course on the top of the character sheet.

"Ancestry" and "Community" instead of race. And I would expect there to be some sort of "lines and veiles" in the final rulebook although I havent seen that yet.

Though two things are interesting. I personally like the dice systems. I really like Genesys with the narrative dice, the idea that a check can succeed but have a bad outcome or vice versa. And Daggerheart does something similar with the 2 D12s.
Also, as it seems, the system is fairly complex for newcommers. So a little bit of "gatekeeping" (which I'm not opposed to, I think if you want to get into something you should do the work to learn it and not demand it being dumbed down for you).

Personally I would still put it on the RED list due to the very woke character creation/artworks but since I am not aware of any anti consumer behaviour from Critical Role a cautious YELLOW might also be apropriate.

What do you guys think?

I'm biased against because:

1. I despise Critical Roll. Everything about it is WRONG.
2. Mercer is a poser, grifter, and shitty DM.
1. I'm a married homeowner with a career and kids. I won life. You can't insult me.

2. I've been deployed to Iraq, so your tough guy act is boring.

He's the least bad Celebrity DM I've ever seen. :D  Try watching Perkins or Crawford if you want to experience True Horror.

Is that like last place at the Hitler Youth Games?
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

I've watched Crawford once, and you are spot on!

Why? I mean they are all woke and involved in woke projects, but it sounds like you are more opposed to the concept of critical role? What's so bad about it? I'm curious.

And Matt Mercer, I admit I only know surface level things about him from the show and some comments/ articles. But apart, again, from the woke leaning I'm not sure what speaks against him?

MerrillWeathermay

I have never seen even five minutes of Critical Roll lol

I would literally rather watch golf
