Really sad to see tbh, I'm not a fan of Vance but to hear Jason speak at such extremes to call him a "fascist", It's crazy.

Jason himself had been the subject of sexual harassment allegations not too long ago and the Pathfinder community demanded the most "good-faith" and earnest interpretation of things to protect "one of their own". No humility gained, it seems, given how much malice is being aimed at the "outgroup" here.

It crazy how these people seem to think that they own a game in the broad sense that they can control who can play it and how they play.  Once someone buys a product, it belongs to them.  They can use it as much as they want and however they want.  The creator has certain rights but saying who can use a product they bought or how they can use it are not among them.  It's insane how deeply, reflexively authoritarian these people are.  That person is not allowed to play our game.  When did you become dictator?  Fuck off.

While I like the thought process, it wouldn't be worth the time to copy Pathfinder, which was mostly just a cleaned up version of D&D 3.5.  Generally, most of the folks I played Pathfinder with did so because, a) they hated 4e and Pathfinder was the only other D&D-like that was still publishing at high frequency and had a public league, or b) they liked the Golarion setting and the adventures created by Paizo.  Rewriting the system really doesn't replace the setting/adventures that were the main draw for a lot of Pathfinder players.  Luckily, Paizo screwed it up themselves by releasing a second edition, to fragment their player base and crater, just as 5e D&D was becoming popular.  So, while I like the snark implied in your idea... it's just not worth it.

The likelihood that someone under 50 who was in the US military doesn't have any familiarity with Pathfinder is near zero, even if he never played it.

It's not like Pathfinder is a small potatoes game, and my experience with military personnel is that they tend to have a much higher percentage of participation in tabletop roleplaying and wargaming than the everage bear.

It would be entertaining if Vance gave a glowing endorsement of Pathfinder and its conservative values, the Paizo crowd would chew their own arms off trying to find every last instance of wrongthink among them to excise.
