This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Well finally an old TSR employee has had enough...

Rob Kuntz is pissed at WotC

Good for him, meanwhile a lot of the other grognards are so fucking scared of getting cancelled they tend to keep their mouths shut.  I mean the Latin American family of orcs got Kask to state that is not going to work, which was a surprise.  When I went to Garycon this year and I had Perkin's at one of the events memorializing Gygax I held my nacho's down and enjoyed sitting down without asking him his take on WotC insulting TSR and Gygax with their claims, so yeah I'm a coward on that, but getting escorted out of the con, wasn't on my bucket list either.

Rob Kuntz? The guy who made a career out of bashing EGG when it was popular to do so?

Kuntz was a minor guy, he'll impact some of the Gen X sales.  Still its better to hear someone say enough is enough for christs sake.

Good for Rob.

Even if we didn't have several different religions (WotC's Church of Asmodeus, Paizo's Reformed Church of Asmodeus, Pundit's Sorcerous Masonic Enlightenment, the Jeffrogaxian Fremen ... ), I'd still support this for the fact that we seem to have numerous different hobbies all calling themselves "RPGs," several of them even laying claim to "D&D" itself.

This is the same Rob Kuntz who said Gygax had little to do with inventing D&D, was "stone cold jealous" of Dave Arneson, and the "one good thing" he could say about Gary was he knew how to move on a good idea when he saw it? Who described Gary as a sort of meglomaniac who was screaming at employees and firing or demoting anyone who dissented from what he wanted, who drove Rob to resign from TSR?

That's the guy who says he is burdened with "watching this slanderous episode unfold?"

What, he's pissed he didn't have a monopoly on slandering Gary's reputation?

Pretty much yeah.

Man at Arms

WOTC is sitting on a gold mine, and yet they choose to shit upon it.

Why build it up, when they can tear it down, and shit upon it instead?

WotC is owned by race marxists now, they are against profit.  They don't put out content to make sales they put out content to create converts.  WotC will keep putting out race marxist crap until they go bankrupt and on the way out they will put up the hammer and sickle and rise up on the web page on the way out.  They are not gamers and have never cared one bit about the hobby, not a single day.

Rob is looking for a new group of mugs and suckers who are not yet familiar with his MO. He has burned several bridges in the last two decades, leaving behind unfulfilled promises, unpaid artists, swindled co-authors, and advances he cashed but didn't follow up with substantial work. He has sung this tune before, and there were always people willing to believe him. The move to a "based TSR creator" stance is a new iteration of the grift.

Well, there goes my hope of ever getting a proper sequel to Castle Zagyg: Dark Chateau....

Dungeons & Dragons has more than enough issues and naysayers. I cannot fathom why they thought pursuing new ways to piss people off was the best course of action at this juncture.
As far as gaming is concerned, I have no socio-political nor religious views.
