While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Fake 5e reveal today. It aint still 5e.

Well given how prone the SJWs are to go into rages, admitting that rage causes one to lose control of themselves would be their own death knell.

So of course they're going to say the opposite: rage causes one to be in MORE control of themselves.

Yup.  Very 1984ish but definitely on brand for "modern audience" focused WOTC.  I suppose they'll be able to cast spells when raging as well because why wouldn't they if they're in MORE control of themselves while raging.  They might as well change the rule/mechanic name to "Focus" instead of rage.

It is Todd Kenreck (years ago was the content manager for DnD Beyond). He works for WotC so this is 100% completely scripted.

Yeah, thanks and I do recall seeing him in some videos when I first was introduced to 5e during the lockdowns and played it for about a year and a half so figured he was an employee.   He was just doing a bad job of pretending not to be giving insipid empty praise similar to the Nerd Crew RLM skits.

Might be older than that if he first appeared in Dragon.

So yeah its a thing and WotC had to hunt to find an excuse to add something like that.

Quote from: Jaeger on June 20, 2024, 02:56:23 PMWotc has also shown their lack of direction by releasing several "settings" in succession, especially in recent years:

Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide     2015
Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica   2018
Acquisitions Incorporated  2019
Eberron: Rising from the Last War  2019
Explorer's Guide to Wildemount   2020
Mythic Odysseys of Theros  2020
Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft  2021
Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos 2021
Spelljammer: Adventures in Space 2022
Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen  2022
Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse  2023

All released to ever dwindling sales and quality. Even the diehard 5e shills were not impressed with Wotc's efforts from Spelljammer onwards.

Wotc is making the same old mistakes, just in slightly newer ways...

Sword coast is just an update of the FR setting.
Acquisitions is a 3rd party setting as is Wildermont and Therios. Think Strixhaven as well.
Also you missed Greyhawk. They slipped that past by doing it in the Ghosts of Saltmarsh module. And Descent into Avernus because the book is 50% module and the rest is a Baldurs Gate setting book. Theres also 6 or more setting mini-books as free PDFs converting MTG settings to 5e.

The rest are rehashes of old settings and the reason sales dropped is because Spelljammer and Planescape were bad and Dragonlance was just 'meh'. Ravnica and Eberron did well because they were actually useful and informative.

The whole "too many buckets!" statement by wotc is just a cover. The number of settings was not the problem. The fanbase was always fractured as there were different interests. Just more wotc lies.

Because they think, possibly correctly that modern gamers are such fragile snowflakes that they will die if they face any sort of adversity.

Oh, I'm pretty sure "The Modern Audience" will eat it up.

Meh, having "get angry" as a core class feature has always been kind of dumb. The problem is that everything a Barbarian should do is already covered by other classes. They should really collapse the Barbarian and Ranger together and call it "Woodsman" or something, maybe have Berserker as a subclass if we really have to have it.
Playing: Mongoose Traveller 2e
Running: Dolmenwood
Planning: Warlock!, Savage Worlds (Lankhmar and Flash Gordon), Kogarashi

I agree that Barbarian doesn't work as a class, it should be a background.

Berserker could be a Fighter subclass. Barbarian or Tribal could be a background.

I remember when they were okay that races got bonuses to various attributes but really upset that a few races got small penalties to offset their bonuses.
Can't stand having any hindrances.

I think it's even more funny that any "species" can have black skin tones in the art EXCEPT drow.   :)

TSR was doing drow as blue and purple for a good while now. I always wondered if Gry read about the skin effects of Analgesic silver water on people and ran with that because it can turn you blue or a funky black.
