It isn't role playing in an RPG sense.  It is (mostly) role playing in a psychological therapy sense.  Two very different things that SJWs like to conflate.  Because anyone with either a brain or your best interests at heart would know that taking serious psychological issues and exploring them in a social setting with your "friends" under the guise of a "game master" instead of a therapist would be a really bad idea.  Of course, for someone without said brain or who wanted to use their brain to gain power over another, those serious negatives aren't inhibitions.

Narcissists are one group that tend to not have those kind of inhibitions about abusing other people.  In the case of WotC, I'd say it is leaving the realm of the narcissist and headed into the orbit of the sociopath.

So the Orcs have gone from being "Black People" to "Mexicans" because they completely missed the zeitgeist memo on normie sentiments about foreign invasion of gangs of military aged young men across the Mexican border right now. I'm only shocked they didn't depict them fleeing terror from an armed group of pale-skinned humans in red hats attacking them without provocation. Because that seems about WotC's speed right now.

I'm waiting for the new Monster Manual reveal where every entry header is some combo of the words Cis, White, Heterosexual, Male, Religious, Bigot, and Patriarchy.

I watched one of the preview 5.5 videos on the D&D youtube channel and was shocked at how bad the cover art was for the limited/special/whatever editions of the core books.  It looks like low detail quick turnaround tumblr art color sketches that you'd find in an indy rpg.  I've literally seen much better quality art in the one or two AI generated art groups that I look at occasionally.  It's like they looked at the Dragonbane art style and thought to themselves "How can we take this and make it crappier and cheaper looking?".  That's not a dig at Dragonbane per se as I do see the quality/talent in that (though admittedly it's not my personal preference in terms of RPG art).  It's more like the difference between Pacific Rim (Dragonbane) and the mockbuster copycat Atlantic Rim direct to streaming/dvd film.
