This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

It would be good if once we have donated the large banner ad were to disappear.

Quote from: Steven Mitchell;1125956You volunteering to be the editor? ;)

Hell yeah!!! Book of Pirates here we come!

I used to be a literary agent's assistant back in college (and then had a failed literary agency of my own), so the bright red pen is my good friend and bloody sword! In my consulting, I do lots of editing of legal documents so doing a 100 page fanzine wouldn't be a problem. I'd contribute an article too.

Then RPGPundit could post the fanzine on DriveThruRPG and let the money trickle to help with site fees.

Quote from: Spinachcat;1125945Considering the number of GMs on theRPGsite, we should publish a fanzine and let the sales support the hosting fees. It would be fun to see what kind of articles posters would donate.

RPGsite is one of my internet cantinas. Gotta keep the walls up.

I'd also contribute to an RPGSite fanzine if someone wanted to quarterback it. I always thought with all the published folks around here... it's kinda weird we didn't get into a huddle to do something for the RPGSite in some official capacity. A fanzine would be pretty cool - lots of people here have focused interests that transcend any specific gaming system. Literal centuries of GMing wisdom here. Could have little sections for specific genres. Lots of "random tables". Useful shit.

then maybe feature some systems (we could let RPGsite members vote), or specific content they wanna see. Just as a starting spitball.

I'd be willing to contribute, though I'm going to need to think carefully about the intersection of things I want to write and the audience here wants to read.

Edit:  Clarify for context--I'm talking about contribution for a fanzine.  Already did the money side.

What is the overhead on a wretched hive of scum and villainy these days, anyway?

I want to note, just in case and for the record, that this fundraiser is being handled entirely by Brett. None of the money donated goes to me or even passes through me, it's straight to Brett, who takes care of maintenance costs. And all funds will be used exclusively for that purpose. If we raise more than what we need for this year, the money will be kept to go to next year's costs.

Would be nice if this "Kickstarter/Go Fund Me" showed the amount raised, the Goal and the Unlocks. ;)
Nice to see the difference make by donating.
An unlock of "Good for a Couple of Years" would be great.

How much is reasonable to give? PM me or the like if this is supposed to be private.

I have closed the call for donations. We have enough to pay for previous years' bills and for several years into the future, avoiding the need for another fundraiser for some time. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.

Fantastic to hear. Meeting the goal in 3-4 days is pretty solid and shows people will put their money where their mouth is in the name of free speech.

Thank you to everyone else who donated. May we continue to freely pummel each other for years to come.
