This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

You did fuck his mother so he's bound to get pissed at you. ;)

As much as I find actual RPG chat here often as exciting as dry toast, as a place to say your piece it's good. There are times it seems as if the right to say pretty much anything turns into the need, which can be off-putting, but I'd much rather exercise my option to not engage than somebody else be silenced.

Even a motherfucker. :D

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

I'm not the one who brought family into the mix. Hste or dislike the poster that is one line I will not cross. Not unless one attacks my family.

I'm just tired of his and others like him pure bullshit. Allies of convenience hated enemies when we are no longer need. Made worse with how they all imply like they are forced to come here. Then passing themselves off as the perputual fully woke martyrs. It's not like they don't know what kind of forum this is.

So either they are mentally ill, trolling or crave attention so much to the point of being hypocrites. Or a mix of all three.

Don't take my comment on motherfucking as criticism. I thought you were both funny and correct. I will give credit to those on the Left who come here and duke it out. I believe they secretly love it, because they could never say such things on TBP and similar sites. It's ironic, really.

No worries not taken as criticism at all.

It is also both funny and sad. Funny because we both know none of the posters who claim to hate this place and those who come have the stones to critcize TBP for fear of being banbed and losing brownie points with their fellow SJW.

Sad because if I do not like a forum I do something easy and simple as not going back to the same place over and over. Proclaiming long and loud thst one hates this pkace and those who post here then keep coming back makes one look to me at least as a clueless trollish idiot.

The correct way to do this is go after the Live Streams, Twitch streamers, etc. D&D, the product, you can't have a meaningful impact on because they don't care about it. D&D, the brand, is what Hasbro/WOTC cares about. Movie, video game, Tv licensing deals. The streaming stuff has a larger impact on the brand than the books. I'd go that route.

Yeah, no need to smash head to brick. I visit TBP to discuss a few games, but that's it. If it gets stupid, I bounce. Let them wallow.

That was what I did for a couple of years when it really started to go downhill, fast.  Then I noticed that the stupid was more frequent.  Then I noticed that I stayed away longer each time.  Then one day I realized that I hadn't been there in months, had been enjoying my time away, and decided to make it permanent.

Though I think if it were only stupid, that might not have been enough to cause such immense apathy.  The nastiness and the hypocrisy was annoying, but the banality of it was the thing that really killed my interest.

I only go there to skim what's new and to discuss a few games that aren't popular here. Otherwise, it's largely boring. Here is boring for me gamewise, but there's a lot more interesting people.

A train wreck can be fun to watch. A circle jerk, not at all.

Start a gaming thread about something that's high interest for you. We have many new posters (and lurkers) so you might find new voices into whatever games you want to chat about.

I should! To be clear(er), it's fine my tastes aren't the popular ones here. Pundit gets pretty sassy about "storygames" but it's his house! :)

I sometimes discuss games that are often grouped near the more trad end of storygame rpgs  (eg: Fate Core,  PDA, HQ, etc) and personally haven't felt any wrath here.

Not sure how the more whimsical storygame rpgs would go here, such as Nobilis, Chuubos, etc but they don't really float the boat for me anyway

I think if people get that you try a wide range of gaming styles then you rarely get grief

Pundit has been just as critical with some more traditional mechanics as he has been with storygame mechanics. Usually if the metagaming mechanics are overly intrusive or at odds with the narrative gameflow, then that is something he has been critical of, regardless of whether its OSR, Trad, or SG.

If there is any beef, its to do with game designer factions. I keep out of that, it's not relevant to me in my daily life.

I think this is a good forum to kick off any thread, there is usually enough people to get interested in anything.

kythri

Worst case scenario is that if a game you are discussing is deemed to be a storygame, not an RPG, mods/Pundit would move it to the "Other Games" forum, and ask that you keep that discussion there.  Not unreasonable.

My "boycott" of WotC (and others) is meaningful to me.

As GM, I've introduced a lot of people to the RPG hobby over the decades. I've been demo GM at many cons.

Now? I'm very happy to introduce people to RPGs and demo games...but NONE from WotC (and others).

Hollywood isn't going to change because I skip movies where I smell bullshit, but it does keep change in my wallet.

Same with RPG asshat companies.

Go to Other Games and start your thread about whatever Not-RPG weirdness you are "playing"!
